TROPHY CASE

It pisses me off when people think I lost weight in my brain. by woyervunitin loseit

[–]zyzzogeton 1 point2 points ago

(some) People suck.

Accept this and give them the respect that they themselves have earned.

And if they are being an ass to someone just because they are heavy, then maybe they are not worth hanging out with. What are they saying behind your back about other things?

Queen of Blades statue by Steve Wang in Versailles, France by Jose_Monteverdein starcraft

Implied subject and verb: basically it is the same as saying "when 'one is' in France"

The most famous use of this construction was when St. Ambrose said it something similar in 387 AD (quando hic sum, non ieiuno sabbato; quando Romae sum, ieiuno sabbato), that eventually distilled down to "When in Rome, do as Romans do" over the years.

I am guessing that sounded way less creepy in your head...

My little cousin claimed this would mow the lawn faster by cjstopin funny

[–]zyzzogeton 0 points1 point ago

It probably would since you can use the smaller mower to get into the places in the yard that are hard to turn the tractor around in, and having the little mower close at hand saves on the time it takes to go get it.

That scenario would actually save the kid a fair bit of time.

Well there's your problem. Stop watching the dudes.

You are a huge sports fan, so you know exactly what it is like.

You either like watching something or you don't. Me, I hate sports. Doesn't mean they are bad, just I can't sit down and watch an entire game of anything without rolling my eyes and wishing I was elsewhere doing anything else.

Why are you so funny?

That is a legitimate, serious question. You guys are fucking hilarious. All of you. I can't even do P90x without cracking up because every single one of you bring the funny. (ok that was an unfortunate, insensitive exaggeration, but I have lost 35 pounds... so AWESOME)

But really, what do you tap in to, to be so funny? What is the zeitgeist that you pay attention to when you write comedy?

Pro cycling is never going to be the same without this crazy old man...I really hope he's still going to do this when he turns 100... by runachirunin bicycling

[–]zyzzogeton 7 points8 points ago

That man is the reason I carry a cowbell in my car and ring it at cyclists (in full kit) on hills yelling "ALLEZ ALLEZ ALLEZ ALLEZ!"

I get lots of smiles, a few fists raised in defiance, and quite a few "WTF" looks as well. Sometimes all three.

Rock on Didi.

Two years ago I discovered hummus, this year I discovered Greek Yogurt - how did I not know about these until recently? What else am I missing out on?! by deeperwonderin loseit

[–]zyzzogeton -1 points0 points ago

Here is a low carb, meal replacement shake recipe with a small amount of greek yogurt in it I posted in /r/keto

Total Net Carbs 15g, Total Calories 415.5 (that is about 1/2 the calories of soft serve ice-cream and 1/5 the carbs for comparison)

Sounds similar to the "Lawyer up, hit the gym" advice given so often, only this time instead of a cheating spouse, it is an unfaithful storyline.

Still good advice, though a lawyer is probably overkill.

Vim vs Emacs? by asi_es_la_vidain learnprogramming

[–]zyzzogeton 18 points19 points ago

Oh now you've gone and stepped in it

seriously though, it doesn't matter. vi is harder to learn but more powerful according to some, but most people don't like modal editors unless they started off that way.

[–]zyzzogeton -2 points-1 points ago

I don't even know how to turn timeline on and don't give a fuck if I ever learn. Screw facebook, the only reason I have an account is because my mom has one and that is her preferred method of casual communication. I hope their IPO Crashes hard in 6 months before anyone there can cash out.

FYI, those are not handicapped spots. To be a handicapped spot it must be painted on the ground AND have a posted sign at the head of the spot according to ADA rules.

ReFs, the successor to NTFS in Windows 8 by c0balt279in programming

[–]zyzzogeton 46 points47 points ago

Today, NTFS is the most widely used, advanced, and feature rich file system in broad use.

That is a pretty narrow set of AND's... especially the last one. You throw out ext4 and Microsoft says "Nuh-uh, we said BROAD USE" Hadoop... "BROAD USE DAMMIT, DID WE STUTTER?" ZFS? "BROAAAAAAAD USE!!!!"
