Question, would the rules allow a competitor to be covered in easily torn off mesh netting? Simiar to x-net

If so, that might be a challenge for a kinetic defense.

Great design. It is basically a reactive kinetic shield. If anything hits you (and that is what all of the other robots have to do) it takes damage, if the blade was weighted, quite a lot of damage. Plus it is a built in gyroscope for stability, very hard to flip.

I suspect another spinning saucer might give it problems. It would come down to whose internal components were more hardened. A super slim flipper might get under, but where would you put all the drive train components and batteries?

I have no advice but the EXACT same thing happened to me. I lost 33 pounds and my wife was getting increasingly upset with me about ever more random and irrational stuff saying that my "Selfish behavior was unbearable" (This one was after I took a 3 hour run one morning on a Saturday, our kids are 11 and 15 so it isn't like I left her with screaming infants)

I will say that almost getting killed in in New York City in the early hours of Monday morning has given me a fresh perspective. I guess my advice to you is almost get the crap beaten out of you by 2 guys trying to shove you in to a 99 Toyota Tercel so they can take you to an atm, make you withdraw the maximum amount, and then leave you for what would undoubtedly be dead. I didn't say it was practical advice, or even good advice.

Fight Club was right. That breakfast was FANTASTIC.

edit: I guess it wasn't clear that the first paragraph and the second paragraph are actually several months apart. For months now, my wife has been upset because I am losing weight faster than she is and is saying some crazy, mean spirited things. On Monday, I was nearly killed while on a business trip in NYC. This experience has helped me see her remarks, and indeed my entire relationship in a different light (for the better). I have not told her about the near-mugging.

That doesn't mean that they aren't sociopathic douchebags with an inability to communicate verbally. In fact, the very qualities you just described are some of the qualities of an anti-social diagnosis.

I am in sales and travel a lot (gold on American, Platinum on Amtrak). I drink Cranberry-Club sodas because they look like Vodka Cranberries. People don't really care what I drink, but that drink has the benefit of being low-cal, not soda, and makes me feel less self-conscious when others are drinking cocktails.

As for snacks, I focus on only high protein things like mixed nuts.

Finally, when it comes to the meals (I have the same situation you describe when I do trade shows and professional conferences). I eat protein and veg.. no breads or carbs. If there was a pasta dish, I would just eat the salad.

As I said above, all of this is to make me feel less self-conscious. I realized long ago that people don't really care what I eat or drink, thinking they were watching me was just arrogance on my part.

I am an ex-journalism major too! By that I mean, the college where I obtained my journalism degree sucked so bad at journalism that they stopped offering it and disbanded the department.

I have a collector's edition journalism degree.

Well, I would just take Pedro Alonzo Lopez as an example

By far one of the most prolific serial killers of all time, the “Monster of the Andes” butchered enough people to fill a small town. After killing around 100 tribal women in Peru in the 1970s, he was apprehended by tribal forces that were just about ready to execute him when they were convinced by an American missionary that was staying with them at the time to take him to the police force instead. Unfortunately, the police then just let him go, after which Lopez travelled to Ecuador, where he proceeded to kill about 3-4 girls a week, claiming that girls in Ecuador were “more gentle and trusting, more innocent”. This carried on until he was caught in 1980, but police were still unsure as to his guilt, but a flash flood uncovered a mass grave that had hidden many of his victims, which then led to his arrest. However, the Ecuador government then released him in 1998, deporting him to Columbia. Lopez allegedly said that he was being released for “good behavior”. [emphasis mine]

In this specific example, had they been allowed to kill him, they would have saved 200+ lives. Life sentences are not always for life. A monster like this might even kill someone in prison who had a chance to be reformed. It isn't about vengeance or blood lust, it is about efficacy.

Now if you made the argument that life sentences are cheaper than all of the appeals that death row convicts get to make at state expense... I would tend to agree that the death penalty, at least in the American system, doesn't make fiscal sense. But speaking in a larger context, there are monsters out there that need to be put down.

I see this comment EVERY FUCKING TIME THERE IS A REPOST.

EVERY. FUCKING. TIME.

While I am being intentionally facetious and making fun of the fact that your comment is no more original than the post itself... Just downvote it and move on. Not everyone sits unblinking, clockwork orange style, in front of a full internet stream so as not to miss any tidbit of humor or the birth of a new meme.
