Scrolling is much heavier in ICS.. want to make it lighter by GoP-Demonin GalaxyNexus

I don't know why they changed scrolling in ICS. IMO it was better in Gingerbread. Much more fluid anyway.

Just ordered my first Nexus device: GNex. What are some of the accessories recommended by Redditors? by sri745in GalaxyNexus

[–]zipperhead 0 points1 point ago

I have that external battery pack. It works okay and the price is right, but I find it difficult to use the phone when the battery is plugged in directly. I've just ordered a micro-usb extension cable for it which should improve things alot. The cable was difficult to find - I finally found one on dealextreme.

Getting completely frustrated with Wifi signal drops when screen off. by rochedoin GalaxyNexus

[–]zipperhead 0 points1 point ago

I saw this exact behaviour today. It's a brand-new phone.

I noticed it at work. I rebooted and the problem went away. For now I guess.

I'm rooted, running stock 4.0.4 IMM76I, stock kernel, baseband I9250XXLA2.

Annoyed by those pesky new Facebook icons? Here is how to get rid of them by emtamkain Android

[–]zipperhead 1 point2 points ago

Search the play store for Tinfoil. Install it instead of Facebook. It's a sandboxed version of the web ui. Works very well, and doesn't pollute your phone.

Google wanted to subsidize a $9.99 unlimited data plan for Android phones by Awesomeadein Android

[–]zipperhead 2 points3 points ago

Lookup proxydroid in the play store. It makes many apps work; you just don't get push notifications. Also most services not on ports 80/443 don't work. If you use a custom VPN you can get things to work but latency is an issue.

edit: there's a huge thread on redflagdeals forums with more info, including the APN/proxy settings you need. Do a search and you should find it.

Nexus S vs Galaxy Nexus by knucles668in AndroidQuestions

I went from an HTC Desire to a Nexus S. The wifi reception on the Nexus S is terrible. Much worse than the Desire. Hopefully the Galaxy Nexus is better in that department.

Can I stop app from starting when my phone boots up? by ElBehin AndroidQuestions

[–]zipperhead 0 points1 point ago

What you're wanting to accomplish is a very system-admin level of task, i.e, you are wanting to control a broad range of behaviour across a range of applications. This is why root exists - a 'normal' user privilege shouldn't have that level of system access. You need root.

“The only music that you can hear for free is when the birds sing,” said Stingray CEO Eric Boyko, whose company runs the Galaxie music app that charges users $4.99 a month for unlimited listening

Umm, yeah. You keep telling yourself that, Mr Galaxie

Confirmed: ICS coming to the Nexus S in the next few weeks -- Engadget by southernmallardin Android

I'm curious: how is your wifi? I'm running ICS on the Nexus S and wifi reception is crap. I'd heard the Sensation has wifi issues (death grip), but never heard any followup.

Better yet, use Tasker to mute the volume when the camera app is running. Works well.

I've recently started using the RSS feed plugged into ifttt.com. I now get an email whenever the feed updates. It's great, you might want to check it out (I'm not affiliated with ifttt, just a happy user).

[–]zipperhead 2 points3 points ago

Anyone care to summarize how getjar works? I installed a bunch of these apps. I assume they'll never get updated though? Does the getjar app track what apps I've installed? Hmm, why would anyone pay for apps on getjar if they'll never be updated? /confused by the getjar model
