TROPHY CASE

The worst feeling ever. by zrx_criminalin funny

[–]zeppelinfromled 20 points21 points ago

I would probably celebrate more over a 260 than a 299. Getting so close and not making it takes a little bit away from doing so well. Of course, last time I went bowling, I got a 102, so this is all hypothetical.

I needed to buy a new XBOX controller, so I played guitar downtown at the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert last night in St. louis by elozano6879in pics

No, I don't think I would know the denominations of your bills without the number. I'm not sure what the US-->UK equivalent would be of recognizing and being able to name the people in those portraits, but I'm pretty sure I couldn't do it. It's probably because our history education is very US- and world-centric. That is, we don't study any individual countries in much detail (except the US).

I don't know. I think that's the kind of thing where everyone comes rushing over to help instead of laughing.

World's deepest diving pool in Belgium is 34.5 m deep... by randoh12in pics

[–]zeppelinfromled 0 points1 point ago

No, you breathe the same as normal. You just get more molecules of air in your lungs each time you take a breath. In theory, you'd think you could breathe more slowly since you're getting more oxygen per breath. But when you hold your breath, and your chest starts the hurt, that pain is actually caused by the build-up of CO2, not from the lack of oxygen. And CO2 builds up at the same rate when you're diving, so you keep breathing as normal.

Also, an interesting fact: the deeper you go, the less time your air tank lasts. So if your tank would last you 40 minutes right at the surface, down at 100 feet it would only last 10 minutes.

Good place to get a moving truck/van for sept 1st? by occasionallurkerin boston

Check other UHaul locations. One year, we got one out in Waltham, and we got a good deal because of some sale. Personally, I'm just going to borrow a buddy's pickup (and be screwed if it's raining).

My wife makes fun of me for drinking white wine because she says it isn't "manly," so I got a set of these. by bigwilliestylezin funny

[–]zeppelinfromled 1 point2 points ago

Exactly. I'll drink a strawberry daiquiri with my pinky out, wipe it out of my beard, and then go out to my welding shop. It has nothing to do with manliness.

Screw that, I'll drink some white wine with red meat out in my welding shop. I say drink what you want, regardless of what it's with or if it's "manly" or not.

Exit Stage Right. by sachegrandein funny

To be fair, he designed his stage to look like a couch, so I see a few problems from the beginning.

As a stagehand, I just wanted to add that this is a thoroughly pointless discussion, seeing as it's a couch and stage directions do not apply. Just saying.

T Question - out of curiosity, does anyone know why the red line slows down to a complete stop everytime it pulls into Harvard? by umt43in boston

[–]zeppelinfromled 0 points1 point ago

Looking down the tracks towards Park, you can see a definite decline. And the incline that would be necessary to split the levels at Harvard wouldn't be very significant. Also, if that's the reason, you should experience the same thing between Porter and Davis, which I haven't experienced.

I don't think that's enough evidence for that assumption.

[–]zeppelinfromled -3 points-2 points ago

So highly unlikely, but I wouldn't call it "lucky."

"Luck" implies that something bad would have happened to them if this hadn't happened. But it's unlikely that either of these bullets would have actually hit the person who fired the other one.

Students in Quebec were asked to send the cops the route of their march. Here's what they replied with. by PunPuncherin funny

[–]zeppelinfromled 0 points1 point ago

do you think sending the picture is "treating them like shit"?

Yes. Imagine if it were your job, and you're just sitting there doing your job, and all of a sudden people are sending you pictures about how they hate you.

sending that picture in no way justifies any sort of beating.

Obviously not. That's not what this discussion is about.

I don't really think that's it. There's a pretty significant climb from Park to MGH, and it does fine there.

Car registration can be looked up by VIN, so that wouldn't matter.

[–]zeppelinfromled 1 point2 points ago

so you think sending a picture to the cops, the ones that beat the shit out of you and arrested you without cause (according to protestors) is treating them like shit?

I think you're confused about the order that things happened. The police asked for the map of the route before the protest happened. And then, during the protest, violence happened.

[–]zeppelinfromled 0 points1 point ago

Well now we're just talking about semantics. The post here is clearly talking about both not respecting someone and treating them like shit (sending a picture flipping them off). So your point that disrespect doesn't necessarily have to be accompanied by negative actions is irrelevant, since the two are both present in this example.

Bullshit. Why is respect earned? You're telling me that when you encounter a random person on the street who hasn't done anything to earn your respect, it's okay to treat him like shit?

You don't have to write anything down to have a budget. If you've ever thought "well, I have $1,300, my rent is $800, my utilities are $100, cell phone is $100, so that means I have $300 left over," then I have some news for you - you've made a budget.
