Wow, you have no idea what you are talking about. Many Jews have distinct physical traits; for example there are a number of diseases that primarily affect Jews (Tay-Sachs, Yakov-Krutzfelt) because of years of inbreeding. A large majority of us "look Jewish" - I can almost always tell that someone is Jewish (there are many types) just by looking at them!
You don't have 6000 years of marrying your own without carrying some similar traits. Also, it is culture as well as a religion! I know very few religious Jews yet I still share food/language/beliefs/mannerisms with other Jews.

Well, besides the fact that it is like mixing Game OF Thrones with 1001 Arabian Nights (read: awesome), travelling folk (the Rhoa, I think they are called) are featured heavily

No! Don't apologize. I meant that he is in the press a lot lately - I have submitted more links about him than anyone, so don't worry about it.

There have been a deluge of Gar Alperovitz articles as of late, but this one takes the cake.

Firstly, he doesn't really talk about cooperatives very much - which is a nice change as it allows him to address related issues that a lot people ARE talking about - healthcare, safety nets, energy, etc. So it feels relevant and new at the same time, something I don't see that often. He also comes out as a strong advocate of public/government sponsorship (which I guess is because the article was co-written by the director of the Democracy Collaborative, a group that relies on institutions/government for some of its programs); a "hot topic" on television these days, meaning you rarely see any well-thought out debate surrounding it but instead just hear words like "Socialist!" and "Fat Cat." I also like how he tracks the growth of banks/corporations and the decline of union membership, labor laws and public ownership. I think it's very important that cooperators know where we started - labor/unionization are heavily intertwined with the cooperative movement worldwide, though perhaps not in the same way here in the US.

Is Google Chrome any better than Firefox? by brodie268in AskReddit

[–]yochaigal 0 points1 point ago

At least on Linux, Firefox is more likely to be supported (I am talking to you, OWA) but the real reason I support Firefox is twofold:

Cliget. Best extension for sysadmin work, period.

Better search history. Go to a site in Firefox then in chrome. Then close and restart both browsers. If you compare the keyword/url memorization between them there is no competition.

The Rise of the New Economy Movement. The broad goal is democratized ownership of the economy for the “99 percent” in an ecologically sustainable and participatory community-building fashion. by allliein Economics

Not sure we are reading the same thing. Evergeen is a newish way of doing things; taking existing "Anchor Institutions" - in this case, hospitals, and providing them with necessary services that would otherwise be filled by large privately owned corporations. Poor people get co-ownership in a company while making a decent wage, something most of them would never have had. I think the point isn't to market this to Democrats; the point is to empower working folk in a real way - with worker-ownership.

Full disclosure: I know a few people at Evergreen and the Democracy Collabrative

What an excellent "state of events" type article. Puts things in a perspective I don't regularly see - an optimistic one!
