My view this morning- Told my bf to look outside the window quickly, that there was a cat. Took him far too long to realize by P33TR33in pics

And I just spent about 90 seconds looking for a cat climbing on the machine somewhere. I even read the title of the post. I feel dumb.

STOCK SHAFT VS AFTERMARKET by sneezyleein golf

[–]xXsnowXx 0 points1 point ago

I've always heard (and experienced to some extent) that a lot of Pings stock shafts have just as much R&D and cost into them as some of the high end aftermarket shafts. Basically don't go re-shaft your Ping TFC shaft just because it is stock. Keep in mind aftermarket isn't always better as that particular shaft was designed for that club. I've put $300 shafts in clubs that have only made them worse.

Any of you have or putted with a Bobby Grace putter? by Angry_Caveman_Lawyerin golf

[–]xXsnowXx 0 points1 point ago

In all seriousness, the V-Foil GT Mini is/was a great putter in my opinion. I wasn't crazy about the look, but something about it was "right". I've messed around with some of the others. I was never too crazy about the technology they tried to throw in there (changeable weights and face inserts) but they do some good things with their stuff. Probably overlooked more than they should be.

Email from my hometown course by womgin golf

Perhaps adding limited flight balls? I know a course that has real balls (theirs are yellow) for irons and balls that travel like 50-75% (these are white) distance for woods. They aren't shitty either, just don't go as far.

Thanks. I don't recommend multiple minutes between shots. I usually take 30 - 60 seconds between each shot, which includes following a familiar pre-shot routine. This isn't always the case though, but for me it helps as I used to find myself literally going through 75 balls in less than 20 minutes and getting nothing out of it. I tend to hit short wedge shots faster than full iron/wood shots.

Here are my tips, mostly based on my own personal preferences/needs:

  • ALWAYS have a target in mind. Even when I'm hitting driver, I always choose two lightpoles/trees/etc. as "my fairway". Roughly the width of an average fairway and try to split them.

  • Try not to hit the same club too many times in a row. I've had to force myself to stop after hitting the same club more than 5 or 10 times. I started this when I realized I'd be hitting driver 40 straight times and then I could not hit anything else.

  • Take your time between shots. I try to get in the habit of cleaning off my club after each shot, stepping back, watching another player hit a few times, etc. I do this because when I'm on the course I don't often hit two shots within a few seconds of each other.

  • For fun I will try and play a certain course in my head. Example, my home course, I hit 3 wood off the first tee usually. I'll hit 3 wood at the range. If I hit it well, I typically have a PW to the green, so next I'll hit PW, preferably at one of the greens of similar distance at the range. If I hit my drive poorly, depending on which direction/distance, I'll hit the appropriate club. I'll even go as far as trying to give myself a poor lie if I think I would have been in the rough.

  • If there is a putting/chipping green near, try and hit 25% of your bucket, then go putt/chip for 10 minutes, then go hit some more full shots and repeat.

  • I also enjoy trying to hit to the same target with a variety of clubs. Such as using a 5 iron to hit a target only 140 yards away, either by working the ball, choking down, hitting 70%, etc. If you are anything like me, having shots like those come in handy more than you think.

At the train station. Two urinals, no real dividing wall thing. I walk up the empty one and there is a guy at the other. He has one hand holding his cellphone right in front of his face and his other hand/arm is propped on his hip (no hands on his wang). He never takes his eyes off his phone. When he finishes, still staring at the phone, uses his other hand to VIOLENTLY shake it for several seconds. He then (still staring at his phone) pulls up, buttons, and zips his pants with one hand. Quickly too. He quickly walks out, still staring at that damn phone.

I know this is probably insignificant to most of you, however, today I celebrate my first ever Birdie, made on the 18th hole of Oak Quarry. Something I will always remember, so cheers everyone! by heart_and_seoulin golf

[–]xXsnowXx 3 points4 points ago

Congrats. I remember my first. First high school tournament freshman year. First time ever playing a full 18 hole round. First hole was a par 3. Left it short of the green by about 30 yards. Chipped in. Was one under after one! Still shot a 113 lol. Honestly, my next birdie probably didn't come for another year.

What's an awkward/embarrassing thing that's happened to you that's too complicated to fit on a socially awkward penguin? by [deleted]in AskReddit

Took a weightlifting class as an elective in college. There were probably 30 people in there, maybe 20 men and 10 women. The teacher didn't expect much from us, we just had to be there for at least 40 minutes or something. However, there was one day where we were required to do a variety of exercises and log them (wall sit times, situps in 60 seconds, pullups, etc.). For the situps, we had a partner kneel on our feet for leverage or whatever. My partner was a nice guy, from India or Pakistan if I remember correctly. So, I was feeling pretty good and felt like really giving it my all (most people barely did anything, just did it to get it done). So, I start doing situps vigorously. I get probably halfway through when it happens...I let a huge fart rip in the middle of one of the situps. Keep in mind, my partner is right on the receiving end of it. I could hear most of the class giggling as they continued on. I did as well. As soon as I was finished I am sure I was completely red. However, rather than letting everyone wonder who did it, as I stood up I raised my arm signaling "it was me". People laughed and moved on. I feel awful, but I didn't even apologize to my partner. Damn, this happened 7 years ago and I still get embarrassed thinking about it.

TL:DR - College fitness class. Situps. Farted in my partners face. Class laughed.

What are some rules that beginners dont usually know? by bored_engineerin golf

[–]xXsnowXx 3 points4 points ago

I don't even know if is an actual rule, but don't ask me what club I used/am going to use (usually happens on par 3's). Most likely we'd need to be hitting different clubs for that yardage anyways.

Also, putting with the flagstick still in isn't allowed (can be tended though).
