They don't have deep packet inspection no, but they can block particularly problematic IP address ranges or ports.

Of course there's nothing to say that the exit node isn't behind something with some more intelligent packet inspection capabilities.

I believe Tor exit nodes can be configured to only provide access to certain protocols, address ranges, etc. For this reason I believe the administrators of exit nodes are more likely to drop certain problematic traffic in favor of killing the entire network.
