Yeah, playing it now, it feels like snake has a pole stuck right through his spine, kinda spins around on that axis super fast. But it worked fine for me as a kid, i can get used to it again as an adult.

How is something incomplete worthy of a post? Finish it, then post an album that details the evolution from start to finish. I'll upvote that submission when I see it.

I know you're talking about the make up, but god damn it seemed like you were putting female soldiers and clowns on the same level, and that made me laugh.

Did Blizzard genuinely drop the ball? by NorthernSkepticin Games

[–]wowlolcat 13 points14 points ago

Buffing the hardware for the sole purpose of a single release night and maybe the next few days / weekend just isn't a good investment.

For Blizzard and its shareholders to have this mindset, shows that maybe they should have a more positive and forward thinking attitude. Not having the infrastructure to handle the initial influx means that they assume their product will not sustain the high sales volume.

You say it's not a good investment, but i think it would be. Imagine if the problems at launch didn't happen, then more people would dole out guest passes because they know their friends would get instant playtime which will increase sales.

It was poor management or bad decisions that led to these problems. And personally, i think having the infrastructure to handle the load would have been a lot more beneficial to the company than they realized, long term. Don't you think if you explained goodwill and customer loyalty to shareholders that they'd understand?

Day Z(ArmA2 mod) - the open world multiplayer zombie survivor we always wanted by boobinatorin pcgaming

[–]wowlolcat 1 point2 points ago

I've been playing for a few days now. it's tough. REALLY tough. The zombies are kind of weak, but some move fast, and if you shoot one, you better hope there aren't others nearby because they'll hear the shot.

The worst part, is the other players. You could spend hours avoiding major towns, sneaking around, but then some guy will run up to you, and kill you for a can of baked beans. Then you have to start from scratch. It's all part of the game, but it's the least enjoyable part.

The 3DS tore up charts in Japan last week with some impressive sales figures, Vita sales are so low the PSP sold twice as much. by KR4T0Sin Games

I'm agreeing with some of the points you're making but with others I strongly disagree. The Gameboy, a handheld launched bundled with Tetris. Tetris is a killer app. Super Mario World came bundled with the SNES, that's a day one killer app, so it is possible to have the highest grade of games from day 1.

If we judge things based on sales alone, Call of Duty is the single best game franchise of all time. And we know that isn't the case.

I'm not sure if you're directing that to my "PS2 had an awesome launch" comment because I didn't say the PS2 is the best console of all time. From a hardware point of view it was a great launch based on the units it sold and shipped. If you want to factor in the games that are available to be sold at launch, it'll be slim pickings for every console/handheld/mobile ever made.

I don't believe unit sales is indicative of a good launch.

Then what is? From what I understand, your idea of a good launch is based on the future potential of a console plus the number of titles available at launch. The quality of the games on hand would be a factor but you don't believe its possible to have the best software until a few years later. A lot of this is personal opinion.

What I'm talking about is, "This console broke records when it launched. It exceeded expectations. Due to marketing or hype it doesn't matter, the amount of units sold is very high. It was an awesome launch".

I thought the subject was unit sales not the number of game titles at launch. In the context of this conversation which i believed was about units sold, the PS2 did in fact break records and was indeed an awesome launch.

Didn't the PS2 have like a ridiculously awesome launch, and the Wii as well?

It doesn't really as far as I'm aware, but they need to put the Vita and MGS Peace Walker together and say, hey guys, this is how the game was meant to be played and advertise the crap out of it.

I've put in more than a 100 hours into Peace Walker on my PS3, I LOVE that game. I also own it on my PSP when it came out for it, but I played like 3 hours, why? The controls were dreadful on the PSP. The Vita and Peace Walker seem to be made for one another. Sony should focus on that to push sales.

If there is a Metal Gear Solid 5 what would you want it to be about? by jackolantern_in Games

[–]wowlolcat 1 point2 points ago

Yeah that is a pretty awesome idea. The last Big Boss game I played was Peace Walker, and I fully built up my Motherbase and maxed all my teams. So I've seen Big Boss take his Militaires Sans Frontières from the bottom of the ladder, straight to the top where they're a threat to nations all over the world. I want to see where it goes from there.

AS much as I love all the Metal Gear games from Metal Gear Solid (PSX) onwards, I've never completed Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake even though they're bundled with my MGS HD Collection.

So yeah, a remake or re-imagining of the first story, hopefully more fleshed out with new plot twists that take into account the expanded universe that has been created since the series inception, would be awesome.

Not to mention Big Boss, I LOVE Big Boss. and I'll probably be downvoted for this, but he's so much more of a bad ass than Solid Snake is.

If modern consoles are practically PCs, why is it so hard for them to play previous generations' games? by Sconathonin Games

[–]wowlolcat 1 point2 points ago

The Older PS3 contained the EE (Emotion Engine) chips that is the core of PS2 hardware, thus retaining hardware compatibility with PS2 games, but it was removed in later PS3 models to reduce costs.

Well if the PS3 is so powerful why doesn't it just emulate the PS2 games? Well you see it's a powerful beast for its age but no where near powerful enough to emulate the PS2 in software. That's why there are HD Remasters. Game companies take the source code of the PS2 game, and tweak a bunch of things so that it runs natively on PS3 hardware, but it looks nicer, it runs perfectly and they can justify charging for it since it isn't a straight emulated game.

The PS1 however, was a simple enough machine to be emulated in software, that's why you can play PS1 games out of the box with a PS3. Also the PSP has this PS1 emulation wrapper available for it as well.
