Ubuntu 12.04 was released yesterday - It is the first desktop OS to integrate BBC's Iplayer into the OS's main menu (Mac/Windows do not have this feature) - other media sources also. (x-post) by d_r_benwayin linux

uninstall the unity video lens package

I wasn't aware that I could do this. I thought Unity was bundled as one big package. This is the solution I was looking for.

Would you happen to know the name of the package?

Thanks :)

While this is true, you can get interpreters/compilers/etc. on your iPhone, it's really not recommended. Why, you ask? Simple: you don't have a keyboard. Special characters are a pain in the ass to type repeatedly on a phone keyboard, and you will be typing them a lot when you are programming.

If you have a bluetooth keyboard attached to your phone, then by all means, code away. Otherwise stick to your computer for coding.

The Unity menu doesn't take any longer for me to open while disconnected from the internet and it does while connected.

That's because it's loading in the background asynchronously, not synchronously. It will still use your connection if it's available, though.

I know it doesn't search through your lenses, but so far as I can tell they are pre-cached in the background as soon as you open up the menu.

Don't make blanket statements that aren't based on any kind of evidence.

Yep, keep telling yourself that.

Except that it's bloat that loads no matter what. The code for that "code viewing" in chrome? Yeah, that gets loaded when you launch it.

This loads the moment you press your "super" key (for anything, not just for videos), and uses bandwidth that a lot of people consider to be very limited.

So... how do I disable this? It's feature bloat that I really don't need or want or even imagine a situation in which I could want.

Is there any truth to to stereotype that "nerds wear glasses?" Does intelligence in any way reflect poor vision, or vice versa? by MinecraftHardonin askscience

[–]work__account 0 points1 point ago*

[Non-scientific speculation incoming]

My hypothesis is that, during earlier decades, if children couldn't see properly, they had to wear glasses (as in, contact lenses weren't an option). This largely prevented them from playing sports and the like (since during that time period there weren't the largely everything-proof sports glasses), so they developed hobbies that are seen as being "nerdy". Couple this with the kids who make fun of those who are different (ie, those with glasses), and you're left with "nerds wear glasses".

Edit: as for any link with intelligence, I have no idea.

Keep v-sync off. The rest is an issue with the game. Pretty much you'll just have to get used to it. The sensitivity is also much lower when you're "zoomed in", right? Yeah, for some reason that's by design. This is what happens when devs don't give two shits about their PC port.

I wish I could tell you, I'd love to have it visible by default. It's one of Unity's biggest design flaws, IMO.

If you find out the answer, could you PM me? Thanks :)

No, but a battery in that state is essentially a ticking time-bomb. It could explode/catch fire/leak at any moment. It's not something you want to fuck with.

What is the difference between MVC and MVVM? by envprogrammerin dotnet

Sorry, I meant more tightly coupled than MVC. That is, a viewmodel doesn't usually abstract the model as much as a controller would.

Might want to contact Rogers about it, or just bring your phone into the store and see if they know how to fix it.
