Technically "laying odds" is when you bet the don't pass line, so you are betting more to win less on the more likely outcome. For example, $20 to win $10 if the point is 4 or 10, so that 7 is twice as likely.

"Taking odds" is when you bet the pass line and do the reverse, betting less to win more, but with a worse change of winning.

Ahhh the dreaded EPO button... Most engineers don't even put them in unless they're required by code.

Edit: I've actually heard a worse version of this, but I don't know if it's an urban legend. Similar situation, but it triggers a chemical fire suppression system the suffocates the person.

On a similar note, soups are intentionally not alphabetized. They've done numerous studies that show that if they're alphabetized then sales drop something like 15%.

It works on me... I will regularly be looking for 1 kind of soup, see another "Oh, that looks good," and you've just convinced me to double my purchase.

I decided to buy HBO to watch Game of Thrones for the next few months. Then I tried to record it via my cable company's DVR service and it was "not allowed." My cable company blamed HBO 100%. I tried to explain to my cable company that this affected the value proposition of their DVR service as well. I cancelled both my HBO and DVR service and will be viewing Game of Thrones throught methods of questionable morality. Much as in the Oatmeal cartoon - I tried to pay them, but they wouldn't let me. HBO and my cable company can go fuck themselves.
