Yes, i'm sure the students want to end the transfer payments. They would most certainly see a tuition increase then.

What about single mothers living below the poverty line? I bet they don't want the transfer payments to stop. Otherwise how would they get their $7 daycare? And the other perks to living in quebec?

So yes, i'm sure the majority of quebecors want the transfer payments to end. And for those that do, if their dreams are realized, they will change their tune pretty quick when their taxes are raised, services are cut, jobs are lost, and things become more expensive.

I tend to spend hours either reading or playing MUDs (text based games). With MUDs you have so much information being thrown your way it takes awhile to be able to filter out what is important and not so you have that information before another wave of text comes. I think that just the amount of text I processed today would cover at least the game of thrones book. And now I'm reading reddit. Then I'm going to hop on my kobo and finish my book.

But when I see a wall of text, especially when it's not formatted into paragraphs, I look for a tl;dr

I like sliced pickles. Especially the ones they put on burgers at dairy queen. I swear being able to put as many pickles on my burger was probably the main reason I have worked at 5 separate dairy queens.

I'm not sure how I feel about free post-secondary.

On one hand it helps the impoverished (like myself) to learn a skill and obtain gainful employment. On the other hand, it would highly saturate the market, we would have too many people applying for jobs, the requirements for jobs will increase, and then having post-secondary will be more meaningless than it currently is. That's all my opinion of course, things could work out differently. That's just how i see it going down.

Wouldn't call those born in a country "immigrants". Their family (however far up the line), yes. But those born in a country? I'd consider them "Natives" not in ethnicity but just in general. And really, weren't natives from asia anyways and migrated over the Bering Strait? (No, seriously, I'm asking. And some of the stories you just roll your eyes, because it's the 5th different story they have told 5 different people.

I lived with some of those kids on two occasions when I was down on my luck and had to live in the youth shelter on tower rd. These guys make up excuses to stay in after the kick out time (9am-11:30am 1pm-5pm) so they can go through peoples rooms and steal shit. Or they will lie to get bus tickets from either the shelter, the phoenix centre, or PLEC (Sometimes all 3) then try to sell them on spring garden or exchange them for smokes.

Then theres the fact that most of the kids in the shelter are "lifers". What I mean by that is they stay the 2 months allowed, fight for an extension near the end and when they are finally booted out, they stay at a friends place or at the general shelter for a week, then go back when a bed is available.

They don't want jobs and assistance is useless for paying for rent unless you have a physical problem that makes it hard/impossible to work or a mental illness. Then the rental rates go up to a max of 535. Before that I think it's around the 300 range. Some of them try to convince doctors they have a disability/illness so they can get the higher payout. Even then some of them only stay in the apartment for a month then move back to the shelter while receiving the full amount ($835) each month (In other words, it's fraud).

Yes, there are a few (And I do stress a few) people that go into the shelter as a place to stay while they rebuild their life. Unfortunately some are "corrupted" by the other residents. I knew one girl who stayed there for the first time my first time there. She was 16 and pretty innocent considering most 16 year old girls in this day and age. Unfortunately she was also there when I came back a year later. In that year she had gotten into injecting herself with drugs (Not marijuana, but actual hardcore drugs) and from rumours going around was trading "favours" for drugs to her dealer.

But, yes. Some stories will break your heart. You just have to realize that some of them are bullshit.
