Tried it just now @7am IST. The servers too busy to get a connection for a booking.

I thought they would consider properly managing the expected load on their servers, but I should have been more pragmatic. Can you really expect that of any such companies putting up deals which they cannot support due to incompetent IS/IT support? And I believe this will not be more than 1000s of hits per minute.

I hope by tradition you meant only the offering of dead bodies into the Ganga and not the piles of shit - which I believe is a more recent phenomenon due to overpopulation, poverty and lack of planning.

Well there was the attempt in 1995 to apply for a US patent for the wound healing properties of turmeric, which was finally quashed in favor of India (actually the ruling was that it cannot be patented) where it has been used for thousands of years for that purpose. This would be an interesting paper to read.

Heres a nice write-up on its uses in general. Perhaps the fact that it is known to be effective in multiple ways, and its traditional (Note: not "stone-age") use in India for many "occasions" as well as medicinal purposes makes it a favorite with us Indians.

I really like this attempt by a high schooler to test the hypothesis that turmeric has antibiotic and antifungal properties.

I am sure there are many scientific articles related to various medicinal properties of turmeric e.g. try google scholar.

BTW, Im just responding to your comment reg the use of turmeric , and in no way providing any justification for the act shown in the link (just in case someone jumps to that conclusion).

Has the Nano fire issue repeated sometime recently? I believe after the first few times it happened they released some fixes and it won't be an issue in their 2012 version.

Small nitpick - Gavaskar is 62, not 50.

Minor help locked up, starved as couple holidays: "In a shocking tale of abuse and torture, a 13-year-old girl, working as domestic help, was rescued on Thursday evening from a flat in Dwarka where she was locked up for six days by a doctor couple who went on a holiday to Thailand" by PapushiSunin india

Fuckers like this should be given strong punishments. I don't care if the mob lynches them to death.

The girls is overworked, tortured and fed extremely less - only chapatis and no vegetables or even milk/tea! When they go on vacation they leave her with some flour and some water and setup CC TVs admonishing her not to eat stuff in the house else she will be beaten.

This attitude towards people (minors and others) employed for house-work, to treat them inhumanly like dirt, is very much prevalent in India (so many news items, across the world). Don't know why these mf*rs are like this.
