These models take forever to produce. We use one where I work to produce prototypes for mechanical sub-assemblies and they actually speed up and assist in the manufacturing process. These prototypes are sent to suppliers with the drawings for mass production. The material wouldn't be any kind of replacement for what we produce.

No, there's software out there that can rip the tunes off your iPod. Even if you paid for it (there's free stuff), it won't be anywhere near $250.00. CopyTrans is one I've used.

If the drive is damaged beyond conventional connection, which I'm sure they tried, the only choice really is to send it off for recovery. If you've crushed the drive it may be unrepairable. It's really a matter of if the data is worth the money to recover. There's other tricks like putting the drive in a freezer but if you've pounded it likely the platters aren't spinning, the heads are crashed or the circuit board is damaged. In any of these cases it'll take a place with a clean room to disassemble the drive and do what they have to, to read it. If you have an external enclosure you can test it yourself but GS is likely correct by the sounds of it.

If the doctor has any sense, he'll kindly explain that's it's not something you can 'treat', nor does it need to be treated. I suggest going to the doctor so she can hear this from a professional. Hopefully the doctor's not a homophobe. Also do keep in mind you're 2 years away from being a legal adult. You have your freedom ahead of you so don't let this get you down too much, as difficult as it may be. Focus on your future independence and be patient with mom. Over time, once it's sunk in, it may become easier.

In public school I had a teacher that like to hit with rulers, books and so on. One day she twisted my ear so bad it was bruised. The next morning I refused to go to school. I explained to my mom via tears and she just told me I have to go to school and drove me in. She took me right to my class and was out in the hall with the teacher for a few minutes. When I got home she told me the teacher said I was missing homework and that I should do better. That was all I knew about it. Then many years later I found out she tore that teacher a new asshole in the hallway, went to the principal and threatened to have her charged. Thanks mom.
