Creating an OR block with Inverters and AND blocks? by SeansLovelyPotatoin learnprogramming

[–]tritlo 2 points3 points ago

No, he is asking how one can use the logical AND operation with the logical NOT operation to create the logical OR operation. This is pure logic, and is used often while programming. He'll probably use the & |^ ! operators some day, and he needs to understand what these do.

I think basic knowledge of logic helps, as it can come up quite often when checking conditions.

I read earlier in the thread that the server checks if that code could have been generated within the last 5 minutes, but it could still be just 30 sec.

It sure adds complexity. Testing 108 numbers in 5 minutes takes a 100 times more power than for one with only 106 th. It's not that much, but it still counts.

Notch asks us: Do we want levels and skills for 0x10c? by Inevitablelin 0x10c

[–]tritlo 0 points1 point ago

Wasn't the idea to have it all on one server? My fear is that people would buy more accounts for more characters, and thus have access to more generators. The game would descend into a pay-to-win scenario. While I'm fine with that if that is what notch decides to do, I still think the game would be more fun without such a system.

[c++] I'm trying to make Conway's Game of Life and I'm quite frankly stumped by subyin learnprogramming

[–]tritlo 1 point2 points ago

That's amazing! Anyway, can you read python? It's mostly similar to pseudo-code. I recently made a python version of the GameOfLife (although I made it so that it could simulate all versions of the rules). There are some functions only intended to load and save, and all the comments are in Icelandic.

Here's the link to the game itself GameOfLife.py, and here's a link to the Cell.py class used for the Cells.

[Edit]: Btw, I'm stealing your rules, I think this pattern generator might be explored further.

My feelings after I finish the series by iluvhobos27in harrypotter

That'd be horrible though. Think of all the people Voldemort killed. I think I'm happier knowing that these events were all fiction than to think that there had been mass killings of muggles around 1980 and 1998.

Because I wouldn't want players to be able to create lots and lots of alts that are as effective as the main right from the start.

Would it be valid for Iceland? If so, I'd love to have it!

I would like this system best. You'd be able to use everything clumsily (maybe not super complex things, but a space smuggler surely has some rudimentary skills in all of this), and when you level up you get better at it.

The color added to the circuit bit really changes it from something that looks like C3PO to something that is C3PO. Awesome.

This. I consider the rest of the series a whole other matter, and certainly not to be read directly after Enders game. It's just not as good, and will only let people expecting another Enders game down.

Reply to you quote: People always have the right to not work. They can choose to starve if want. No one forces them to work, and if they do, its called slavery. If their own need for food and housing drives them to work, this comes from themselves and not from someone else. Thus no one is forcing them to do anything, there is no coercion, but from the workers themselves. As most people find starvation a rather grim fate, they can either work and make their own food, or they can trade their labour for money with which they can buy food. Either way, they do this voluntarily, and thus no one is violating the non-aggression principle.

The worker also made the trade. Their labour for the money of the builder. They made this deal voluntarily, agreeing to give up part of their time for the money of the builder. As the money comes from the builder, and the workers traded their labour for it, the building becomes the property of the builder. The builder then traded it voluntarily to the owner, agreeing to transfer the property to him in exchange for the owners money. Thus the owner is the rightful owner of the building, and decides what he does with it. The workers are free not to work, but this does not give them the right to the owners property, for they have not earned it.

Its his home, not mine. He is free to do with it as he wants, and he chooses to provide it to me in exchange for money. If I don't pay the rent, and still live in the house, I'm stealing from him, for I would be laying claim to something he used his money to buy, and thus his time to earn the money he used to buy it with. By saying that I do not need to pay him, I'm saying that I have a right to his property, and thus his time. If I have a right to his time, I have a right to part of his life, and thus a right to a part of him. This violates the sovereignty of the individual. I would be forcing him to give up part of himself, and this violates the non-aggression principle, and is immoral and unjust.

I would pay rent, because it fulfills my need of having a home. The landlord is providing said home in exchange for my rent. I'm happy to have a home, and he's happy to have more money or else we wouldn't have traded. This isn't coercion, it's business. You can always choose not to rent a house, though I don't think that'd be a good idea. The only thing that matters is that the exchange is voluntary, nothing else plays a part in making it non-coercion.

Would you trust a central DNS registry if it was run by the Electronic Frontier Foundation? by basculein darknetplan

No. I think a distributed torrent like system would be best, where everyone is a node that links to other nodes, and it would be assured that each "network" of nodes would have multiple connections with each other.

I down vote when people do not listen to reason and ignore what is being said, not when I disagree with them. This is because such answers do not contribute to the conversation and is perfectly in line with reddiquette. I feel that removing the arrows would be silly censorship.

I wouldn't trade for something voluntarily if it wouldn't make me happier, i.e. fulfilled any of my needs. How have I been coerced?
