What impacts physical damage of a weapon? Strength?

I struggled with engineer compared to barbarian and embermage. Was trying (unsuccessfully) to make him a 2-handed warrior, though. Didn't use shield bash. I'll have to remember this next time.

Just a quick question for those who played the beta... by LoveGoesDownin Torchlight

[–]thinkforaminute 8 points9 points ago

All of it shows up, weapons & armor (not sure about small items like rings and necklaces). Same with the first Torchlight. One of the things I enjoyed was seeing how my character's gear improved after every session.

Sounds like you would probably like Faerie Solitaire too. If BFG doesn't sell it, you can get it on Steam.

Thanks OP. Yes, these are casual games but my neighbor loves them. Some of the multipacks look like decent deals.

For anyone who likes Diablo, Torchlight, Amalur, or similar action RPG games I agree. I got into the beta and purchased it same day.

Still prefer the original but I'm biased since it was the first 12" single I purchased.

[GMG] THQ 5-pack. Metro 2033, DoW2, CoH, Saints Row 2, Red Faction: Guerilla. £19.94 (all Steam) by tastes_of_vanillain GameDeals

Saints Row 2 may have been a great console game but it was a horrendous port on the PC.

Question About Specs by TylerJaden24in Torchlight

[–]thinkforaminute 1 point2 points ago

I'm concerned about your video card. Geforce 9100 is low end according to the linked site. T2 isn't a demanding game but that card may be too slow for it.

What is a "fumble attack"? by that_mn_kidin Torchlight

[–]thinkforaminute 0 points1 point ago

I had the opposite experience. I'm playing an embermage and wasn't putting any points in dexterity. I was getting pink numbers all the time until I started adding to dexterity.

What is your most favorite level in a video game? by DryAsphaltin truegaming

[–]thinkforaminute 2 points3 points ago

The final level of Command and Conquer - GDI side. The level design was so perfect and so tough that I knew I had to prepare for it and set aside an entire evening to be able to finish it. Still showed up bleary eyed at work the next day.

Really looking forward to trying out Dark Souls when it's released for the PC.

No doubt. My greatest swindle was convincing my parents I needed one to help with my homework.

Torchlight II beta thoughts. (x post /r/games) by ZoomyRamenin Torchlight

[–]thinkforaminute 0 points1 point ago

I played on veteran as an embermage and found myself really squishy for the first 10 levels or so. Part of the reason was playing suboptimally because I was testing out different skills. I died a few times in dungeons for stupid reasons. I find I have to keep feeding my pet health a LOT more than I was in Torchlight 1. Z for my health, Shift-Z for pet health really helps a lot - were these key commands in T1?

Truegaming: What games have you always dreamed of being made? by lappy482in truegaming

[–]thinkforaminute 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, I figure it would take a Bethesda sized budget to make it first person. Not familiar with Legend of Grimrock, sorry.

A remake of Seven Cities of Gold.

For those who aren't old it was an exploration game where you are Christopher Columbus and are discovering the New World for the first time. The game was innovative in that it was able to create random maps so you really were discovering new islands and continents every time you played. It would keep track of the percentage of the New World you found, any landmarks such as hidden treasure, different tribes you discover (aka Aztecs, Mayans, etc.) and allow you to establish trade or conquer them.

To my knowledge it was the first truly "open world" exploration game and the random map generator gave it infinite replayability. At the time it was viewed with a top-down perspective but technology has made a first person perspective (i.e. Skyrim) possible. Could be interesting and, if done well, incredibly immersive.

Yeah, I've seen that too. Runs off when you approach and doesn't seem to turn up anywhere else in the prison.
