I feel like a buffoon asking this, but how are Asian restaurants able to get that specific texture in their chicken? by cc132in Cooking

[–]therealpdrake 1 point2 points ago

i've done the same thing the past 6 months. a lot of my food is better than the american/chinese restaurants now.

some of the greatest cook books i've gotten so far:

http://www.amazon.com/Revolutionary-Chinese-Cookbook-Recipes-Province/dp/0393062228 (anything by fuschia dunlop is awesome)

http://www.amazon.com/Henry-Chungs-Hunan-Chinese-Cookbook/dp/051753326X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1338005738&sr=1-1

http://www.amazon.com/The-Key-Chinese-Cooking-Irene/dp/0517148897/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1338005778&sr=1-1 (shop around on the net to buy a used copy. i got mine for $18. it was recommended by a true chinese chef. it's like the "le gastronomique" of chinese cooking.

good luck

i could, but it would be at least $175. that wood is not cheap. it took about 6 hours.

well, a lot of those components move around so you'd have to animate them before you comped them in. i imagine they were animated then comped then a glow effect was put on them. maybe even colorized in AE.

Yesterday Night I watched a film (gasland) about Fracking. Is all the information in this film correct? Why are WE ALLOWING THIS! by Irish_whiskey_faminein politics

diablo canyon is built to withstand 7.5. if that size quake hits that area the nuclear plant is the last thing they'll worry about. that being said putting that plant on two major fault lines sounds like something only PG&E would do. there's no guarantee there won't be a big quake like an 8 there. it just really strikes me as a less than prudent move.

hah! i was just about to post that. until we start transporting things across the country on jet propelled sleds we shouldn't worry.

yep, that's the truth. one of the videos we were given for research shows a train engine going full speed into a container. the train was vaporized and the container might have needed a new paint job.

it was fear mongering put in place by political parties.

Golf in Las Vegas by cedricisawesomein golf

Bali Hai is on the strip. they have tee times around $125, but you may be able to find a better deal if you don't go direct to their site. it's a beautiful course and has a wolfgang puck restaurant.

callaway has a par 3 on the strip that also has night golfing. it's really cheap and fun.

the course i play at has taxi service to the strip. it's $45 and is a pretty nice course. it's in pretty good shape right now. this would be my recommendation. with the cab ride split you're going to come in well under $100.

there's a links course called royal links that's a pain in the ass. it's long and has pot bunkers. there's almost no trees. you need to use a caddy.

vegas golf always gets cheaper when you take later tee times due to people not wanting to play in the heat. it's not too bad right now.

that was the plan with yucca mt. the problem with it was the politics involved in the US. it was proven safe by scientists but wasn't financially viable for the politicians.

it was more about the transportation than the storage. nobody in vegas wanted the trains and trucks going through town. plus, the money wasn't trickling down to the proper places. i did a lot of work with the NRC and learned how safe the storage was (i did technical animations for senate meetings.) i also live in las vegas.

need a lot of balls. would rock bottom be a good place to purchase? by therealpdrakein golf

[–]therealpdrake[S] 0 points1 point ago

i bought them from lostgolfballs.com. it was about $1250. about $1.55/ball. not bad for mint quality. i think there's 4 or 5 guys at work that golf so i should end up with over a hundred. that should last me the summer. :-D

i won't play pinnacles. :P

after the event these will be split up between a few guys at work that golf. as long as they say used on the invoice i can slide it past accounting.
