What is the most disturbing movie ever? by SnailSwagin AskReddit

Doesn't sound like you really watched the movie, then.

I'm sorry, but you haven't even seen the whole thing? Go watch it. You don't know how devastating a film can be until you watch it in its entirety. If you got past the rape scene, you're home free anyway.

i am not a shaman. try to focus the vibration up and forward in your head. no ideas about your tight jaw, it really shouldn't be physically taxing.

Not squeezed between your teeth, that's not the best way. That sounds hurty. I'll try to explain it the way I understand it:

It's more like you're saying the word "THOH" but the really critical part of the chant is the "TH" - so to practice, just say the word thoh, and pay attention to how your tongue interacts with your teeth in the first half of the word. the tip slips between your teeth, but it's not like you bite down or anything - it slips right back to create the second sound "oh."

So now, when you actually do the chant:

You do the preparation breaths, focusing on creating a little backpressure as you exhale - that's what breathing out through slightly parted lips is about. It builds pressure as you exhale. When it's time to intone THOH you take a big breath, and start to say "THOH" but the majority of the chant - the part that actually creates the vibration you're after - is all in the "TH." So start to say it, and when your tongue slips into your teeth you kind of pause and gently hold your tongue against your teeth, but continue to exhale and make the sound. YOU intone that part of the chant for the majority of your breath, and as you reach the end of your exhale you release the pressure and complete the "OH." You should be able to feel that your tongue gently pressed against your teeth is what's making the vibration focus into your head. The rest of the sound is coming from your vocal chords, but your tongue vibrating against your teeth sort of amplifies it and redirects it.

Honestly, I always had trouble with the second half - the OH - because it felt strange to slip out of the "TH" vibration. Just experiment. It probably feels a little different for everyone, too, considering our mouths and tongues and teeth and brain parts art all shaped a little differently. I hope this helps! I'm stoked to have been reminded of this chant, and to be able to share it with people that may actually make use of it.

Glad to hear it. I haven't done it in years, but I remember getting it focused just right in my frontal lobe felt really awesome. Gonna have to revisit it.

When I did it - all 3 sessions - I did not notice the effects immediately. It came on slowly for a few weeks, but I swear I noticed the difference.

i will say that I practiced it a few times before really committing to 3 sessions. The vibration has to kind of be focused just so, but with a little practice you can really push the vibration up into your frontal lobe. You should be able to feel it intensely if you get it right. After doing the deep breaths before the THOH tone, and really pushing that vibration up into my brain, I came away from each session with a notable physical sensation. Hard to describe. I don't know. Just do it really fucking hard.

takes 3 days, 3 sessions. then you'll be magically psychic and telekinetic.

I always found that interesting. I rarely see what I would consider "scientific" discussions of lucid dreaming here. There is a lot of talk of methodology for achieving lucidity, but I wouldn't call it science. "i wonder if you can talk to other people or meet up with other dreamers while lucid dreaming" isn't really being tested in the lab right now, but it's discussed every day in this sub.

regardless, I think in this one discussion, all of the concepts of lucid dreaming, astral projection, and psychedelic experiences are relevant to one another.

hey, I have nice things all the time. Once I may have left my body while staring into the night sky for a long time. I might have wandered around and glimpsed heavenly bodies of gas and light that are millions of miles away. It may have taken a minute to call my consciousness back to my fleshy body. I may have been high as a kite, but that doesn't make the experience any less meaningful for me, or any more meaningful for the BlowerOTrees. His poopoo attitude won't keep us from having nice things.

And our weed is probably better anyway.

just because you are disillusioned does not mean you truly understand anything. Be skeptical all you want, but that doesn't mean you have to try and confine other people to your particular brand or "understanding" of how the mind and spirit interact.

“Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. Heres Tom with the Weather.” -BILL HICKS (ftfy)

give Bill Hicks credit when you quote him. That man was the last prophet.

I love the experience of shared consciousness, especially when it is under a group psychedelic-induced state. A group of people, all shifting their consciousness in unison, suddenly able to feel and hear and understand each other's thoughts quite effortlessly. Seeing the same symbolism and meaningful significance in the daily doldrums. I would not believe in the possibilities of telepathic communication and shared consciousness if I had not experienced them.

there is a lot of evidence and examples of the effects that chanting and drumming can have on one's state of consciousness. there is a reason chanting exists in essentially every religious practice.

My DMT trips were vivid and hard to describe. I have not done enough to truly break through, but I have seen what can only be described as other dimensions. Its like I close my eyes, and I can still see the walls of the room I am/was sitting in - but they have changed, overlayed with endlessly shifting fields of energetic color. I once sat staring through my closed eyelids at the sun, and golden hands reached down through fields of holy fire in a gesture of generosity. Another time, I found myself in a hyperdimensional hospital bed, surrounded by benevolent but terrifying entities (that fit the machine-elf description very well and looked exactly like this) that demanded that I either relax and trust them, or go insane trying to fight the effects. They pulled at the fabric of the universe, this energetic and all-encompassing fabric of everything, and they wrapped me in it, bandaging me from head to toe. It was scary until I relaxed, and then I came out of it feeling cosmically healed, and full of love.

There is simply no way to properly describe the experiences, and those were all pretty low doses. But the experiences had a very lasting effect of increasing the intensity and complexity of my imagination's imagery, and my dreams have been far more remarkable. I used to never remember anything about my dreams, and now every night is a chaotic and vivid adventure. Still trying to become aware of my dreaming and work toward lucidity, but so far no dice.

as much as I love the idea, there isn't really any evidence that the pineal gland produces DMT. It's just a claim that people take as fact. I believe there's a connection, but that is far from scientific.

that being said, check out this book. I have had two copies stolen, so i haven't read the later chapters on auras, chakras, and astral projection. But the beginning of the book is a series of chants, allegedly from the ancient secret schools of egypt. There is one called the "thoh" chant, which is (again, allegedly) intended to reactivate your pineal gland using a specific frequency and vibration that you make with your own mouthpiece. I am very skeptical by nature, but I followed those chant instructions to the letter, and I noticed some changes in my perception. the best way I can describe it is that my "intuition" seemed to turn up a few ticks. I became more sensitive to other people's thoughts, and my awareness of synchronistic occurrences in my daily life increased significantly over the course of a few weeks.

Years later I smoked DMT a handful of times, and again experienced another massive uptick in my awareness of synchronicity. I also noticed an immediate change in that my dreams became much more vivid, although I'm still not lucid. But i'm remembering them now, which is a step in the right direction. Since smoking DMT, my visual imagination has been supercharged. I can't trace the change to anything else.

...not sure if any of this is relevant. But I think a chant that you can do yourself has to be more effective than a phone app. try it out.

Help have i gone crazy? by randomscreennamein Psychonaut

Friend, I can assure you that right now I am seeing things through my eyes that you have not created. You don't know who I am, or where in the world i am, but the things I see and smell and touch are real. The thoughts I am thinking right now aren't yours - they're mine. that being said, reading your little post has now brought your reality just a little into mine, and vice-versa. I could be in South America, fresh out of the fields of a cooperative farm and sipping a cup of Yerba Mate while I catch up on new of the outside world. Maybe I'm an anarchist in Chicago, waiting for the sun to go down so I can stir up some trouble. Or maybe I'm in upstate New York, waiting uncomfortably for my wife's grandmother to die, so I can get back to the rest of my life. Do you know? If you had created me and this was all in your head, where would I be? what would my real name be? How old am I?

I believe that, despite the awesome power of the human mind, if you really think about the breadth and complexity of the world we live in, there is no fucking WAY that only one of us could create this whole thing. Think of not just humans and our 7 billion different lives, but also the millions of species of fish, mammal, insect, plant living and breathing and existing every day. You didn't put all of this here, but I assure you it's real. Now that you have the whole physical, visible world in your mind, consider everything you CAN'T see or touch or fathom. Viruses, bacteria, the fact that every one of us is a massively complex UNIVERSE of cells and particles and creepy crawly nature stuff. Consider the energetic complexity of our minds, and all of the sensations we will never feel because we can only experience and perceive a tiny fraction of what is truly around us. You are far too small to have created this whole thing by yourself. It's a collaborative effort, Friend. I can't prove it to you, but you sure as hell didn't type all of this shit yourself. I did. Me. John. In New York. Where will I go next, brother or sister?

More importantly, where will YOU go next? what are you seeing and smelling and thinking RIGHT NOW? where will it take you? Seeker, BE NOT AFRAID. You are, I am, WE ARE together. We are one. All-one or none. You are beautiful and unique and nothing special at all. embrace it, don't run from it. it's beautiful out here.
