No worries brother. I'm back in school too. Too old. :)

Best of luck!

Is it really? Please say no. 30 is too much already.

Yup, I hit the hurdle around 26 as well. Brace for it, it doesn't get any better without a lot of exercise as in a being and staying fit. Even then you're treading water. But it IS about the only thing that definitely does helps the hangovers....

It does not make a person a bigot if he is proud of and wishes to retain the culture and heritage of his nation.

Bigot - a prejudiced person who is intolerant of any opinions differing from their own or intolerant of people of different political views, ethnicity, race, class, religion, profession, sexuality or gender.

What did you think it meant?

More like indentured servitude as the church makes an upfront investment for future services rendered.

Ah hell! What kind of kayaking?

I imagine touring or sea kayaking but if you're on the east coast and interested in trying out some whitewater (or already do whitewater) I can take you out sometime and/or hook you up with a few of the Team River Runner (wounded warrior) boaters.

At the very least they could buy you a beer and make fun of you for being bipedal. ;)

Some parents choose to hold their child for one year to give them an advantage for the rest of their schooling, especially with boys. It can be difficult because there are laws that protect against it but there are loopholes.

My parents kept me in pre-school an extra year for this very reason and I'm VERY greatful. I had a year on my peers socially and developmentally until I'd say around college. In middle school I had a leg up with the ladies. When I tried out for High School sports, I was 15 competing with 13 year olds for the same spots. I was the first to get my license etc.

In the realm of giving your kid a head start in the race of life, gifting them an extra year before putting them on the train ranks up there.

This blew my mind when I heard my mother mention it.

My father served nearly 30 years as an officer in the Army, worked in GS system until the day he died, and my mother STILL works for the government. The premiums aren't exorbitant and coverage is good, but it is just principle that gets under my skin.

This is fucking important for young people to know.

They are called catastrophic coverage plans and a lot of people don't know about them.

They don't cover your birth control and they don't cover your Z-Paks. If you get Strep Throat, you'll be paying out of pocket.

If you get hit by a fucking car though, or get cancer, or shot, you're good. They are specifically designed for responsible people that say, "I'm pretty healthy, I don't really full coverage" but are smart enough to know that tomorrow they might feel a lump in their boob or sack.

Throughout my twenty's I had an Assurant Health catastrophic plan and was paying between $50-$90 per month (increased each year) for coverage. $2500 deductible with $2m lifetime cap. I used it too (hospitalization) and they were great.

Shop around and get coverage if you can!

His numbers sound about right. Rates can really be all over the place.

Throughout my twenty's I had an Assurant Health catastrophic plan and was paying between $65-$90 per month (increased each year) for coverage. Pretty basic. $2500 deductible with $2m lifetime cap. I used it too (hospitalization) and they were great. That was for a young, healthy male though.

Lately I've switched to my girlfriends employer based cigna plan and now pay around $80 a month. I'm not sure what her employer is covering though.

I believe my single cousin (Fortune 500) pays around $120 a month and my married sister pays $220 to Kaiser Permanente while working for the Federal Government.

I know I have a a sweet thing going but I'd vote for single payer healthcare in a second. My girlfriend is actually British (Green Card) so it has been interesting to hear about the differences. She would tell you that with great insurance, you get treated much better in the US. But really it is just items and services like no wait times, good food, a walking boot over a solid cast, free wheelchair, etc. Cancer and heart disease are also managed and treated much more diligently in the US when reviewing our family's' experiences.

Having said that, we'd both give up great US insurance if it meant that everyone could have decent healthcare. I really think the country is moving in that direction, hopefully we'll see it in the next couple of decades.

Best of luck to you and your wife. My mother and grandfather were teachers; it's a difficult and often thankless gig.

Pillz is right about the reviews. Some items are cheaply made but you know what to expect from the reviews. I've never received anything that was a disappointment. For example, I once bought 50 button compasses for use in med kits. They were stupid cheap, something like $3. A quarter of them were duds, but I was fine with that because in the reviews everyone said a good portion would not be accurate.

I've also ordered various things that have worked great like a waterproof mp3 player for boating and 10 usb to micro-usb dongles so I could update all my old charges for present day phones.

Shipping can take A LONG time though. My last order came in two batches. One took 2 weeks and the other 5 weeks.

Call your local bank. They'll be happy to let you know. That is unless the person you reach has a little side business.

They are also advertised in the newspaper.

Their various insurance services really are in a league of their own. Great personal service and kick ass rates. When I was in HS my car insurance was literally 1/5th of what my friends were paying. No one would believe me.

True, but it is more of a grab a glass of wine before the show and maybe another during intermission. Two glasses of "white or red" in 4 hours doesn't qualify as serving alcohol in most people's books.

Bottle service would be nice and raise more funds.
