TROPHY CASE

Theo Jansen's Rhinoceros Kinetic Sculpture exquisitely recreated in LEGO - on Cuusoo by slugboiin lego

I think it is fairly new. I really hope it picks up some steam; it's probably the best set I've seen on Cuusoo.

I'm thinking of getting rid of Cable/Satellite, will the Apple TV give me what I need? by metssuckin appletv

I would run both an ATV and a Roku box. You are in for less than $200, you have access to iTunes content, Hulu+, Netflix, YouTube and Amazon content (not to mention the ever expanding list of channels that Roku offers). Of course, you won't have every new show covered, but you'll have a lot.

I use this set up at home and I love it. Of course, I also have UVerse with HBO and Showtime because my wife and I are TV junkies.

EDIT: The <$200 does not include your subscriptions to Netflix ($7.99/mo), Hulu+ ($7.99/mo) and Amazon Prime ($79/yr) and rental or purchase fees for iTunes.

What are some boyfriend/girlfriend/relationship hacks? Example from my girlfriend inside. (Potentially NSFW?) by cjknjknin AskReddit

No one will see this, and it only slightly relates to the OP, but I have a similar thing... My wife and I used to be smokers, and whenever we would go out for a smoke, she would first put her hair up. After a couple of years, I knew that when she put her hair up, it was time to go out for a smoke. Then we quit, and it's been years, but whenever we are home alone, and she puts her hair up, I am overwhelmed with the desire to smoke. At first I couldn't figure out what it was, it was more of a general "something is going to happen" feeling. Then I put it together...

What TV show do you think has had the biggest drop in quality between seasons 1 and 2? by trialrun1in television

[–]slugboi 19 points20 points ago

Yeah, I am a huge LOST fan, but season 2 is a cluster. The whole season is a plot that goes absolutely nowhere, and given the ending of the show, had no purpose in the scheme of things. There was a lot of good character development, but otherwise it really was a season in which the writers were just trying to figure out what they were going to do with the show. Season 3 is a big step up, and 4 on out are total jam scenes, IMO.

I would also like to take a second to be that guy. Reddiquette dictates that we do not downvote people for having differing opinions. RandomLiberty took a chance by giving LOST a well-deserved critique, but I know he is being downvoted by LOST fans simply because they can't bear to see their show called out for being a little lame sometimes. We only downvote when the comment does not add to the conversation, and I believe that if you downvoters would defend your show rather than downvoting for censorship, then this could be a good conversation. /rant

[–]slugboi 7 points8 points ago

Heroes was never really good. The first season was kind of interesting because the writers were throwing everything at the wall to see what stuck. The whole season was bogged down with random nonsense, plot holes, and dead ends. The finale totally clenches that. I am not saying I wasn't amused watching the writers spin their wheels, but there was never any depth or arcing ideas, just a mess of one-offs that the writers were either too distracted or too bored to spin into a decent story.

Seriously, go back and watch the first season again and count how many storylines start and go absolutely nowhere, or how many events happen with no explanation, or how much the story relies on coincidence. These are all the marks of writers that don't know what the fuck they are doing.

Surprised that Twin Peaks isn't listed yet. The first season was great, then the second season really falls off and turns into a soap opera for the most part. Lynch picks up the reigns again in the last couple of episodes and ends the show with utter chaos.

I took my 3DS to SXSW totally excited to get tons of hipster street passes. Got home and took it out of my pocket - and the battery was dead. I had forgotten to charge it the night before - so bummed.

Seeing as how we've never met, I find your comment very off-base and rude.

If you want to bring up biology, well then let's get it straight. There are these things called hormones, and create very specific differences between males and females. Females generally create a bond almost instantly with her offspring, while men take longer: "In contrast to the maternal bond, paternal bonds tend to vary over the span of a child's development in terms of both strength and stability. (...) In general, paternal bonding is more dominant later in a child's life after language develops." From the Wikipedia article on human bonding.

I think it is neither sexist nor selfish to acknowledge this difference. I know I didn't let the general feeling of restlessness hinder my interaction with the child, it was just less enjoyable than I thought it would be. I put in a lot of effort in taking care of and building a relationship with my daughter, and I am fully committed to her and my wife. For you to say otherwise, based of of some deluded sense of moral superiority, is beyond ignorant. I can only imagine Gunhead feel the same way.

Sure, and neither one of us are saying that we can't handle taking care of our children. I play a very large role in my child's life, and the responsibilities are split evenly between my wife and I. We are saying that women seem to have a higher tolerance for spending extended periods of time alone with our infant children.

I see nothing wrong with the honesty in your post. I don't know why you are being downvoted.

I spent a month off with my daughter after her mother spent three months with her, and I started to feel the same way. I agree that it's a lot different for males. Throughout man's evolution we kept some distance from our children, while the mother's stayed near. I feel that it's hard to reverse that role. I loved being with her, but I did get very restless after a couple of weeks.

Whats your "Fuck I'm not a kid anymore." moment? by Trolls-Gone-Wildin AskReddit

I got 6 LEGO sets for my birthday. My 35th birthday. I am in the middle of Silent Hill 2, I am going to see AVENGERS for the second time in a few minutes, and I have an expansive comic collection. Sure, having a wife and kid limits my hobby time, and I get excited about cheap bags of mulch and diaper coupons, by I think I have a well-preserved inner child.

I just have a lot of experience in the music world in general.

Historically, Punk was more of a DYI, anti-establishment mindset than a music genre. Talking Heads and Devo were considered punk when they first arrived, but I think now people wouldn't look at them the same way because the 90's gave way to this boiled-down sound that quickly flooded the mainstream. 90's "punk" was everything that 70's-80's punk was against. It was normal. I couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting a ska/punk fan in the late nineties, whereas to the generation before that "punks" were outcasts. This would all be fine, if it weren't for the overall attitude of the "founders" of punk. I don't think they would regard the 90's acts with much respect.

See, maybe it's just me, but the only band on this list that I don't mind listening to is (early) Green Day. Commenting on a punk thread might have been a bad idea for a non-punk fan. I've released the bees.

I stopped after three episodes. It was very formulaic, each episode being a vague facsimile of the last. I think any fan of The Wire would get bored with it really quick.
