TROPHY CASE

Just picked this up at Goodwill for $2.99... Vintage 1984, still has sticker sheets. by geekwadpimpin ThriftStoreHauls

Not OP, but I'd sell the boxed one in a heartbeat and pick up a used one, or even a reissue.

Kindle for tech books? by FreneticEntropyin kindle

[–]skwigger 0 points1 point ago

I have a Kindle 4, and I've purchased several tech books for it. I've read a couple so far, and haven't had a problem with it. Neither were diagram heavy though. I avoid PDF versions, but most tech publishers offer multiple formats. Tech ebooks are also a fraction of the price of physical books.

Because clearly this can't be shared. Oh, and when you order it, you actually have to sign a legally binding contract stating that you will finish it in one sitting or be put to death.

Not to mention it's been in dozens of movies and commercials. I'm pretty mainstream when it comes to music, and even I've heard this song countless times. Hell, we even used it in our wedding.

I'm definitely not trying to resell this. I'm still learning Wordpress, but I'm pretty much dumped into the role of lead dev because I know Wordpress the best (as in no one else I work with has even really used it, never mind developed for it).

I need to look up mysql functions when I need them because I usually use a framework or CMS that abstracts that away from me having to look at it.

I still have to look up functions all the time. It's better to look something up, than to not bother and roll your own code that does the same thing.

The point isn't to say "well, if he was wearing a helmet, maybe he would be alive today, so you as his family should feel more like shit than you already do". The point is to make others aware that a helmet could save your life and this is one of the reasons why you should wear one.

Anyone know of a rental agent? by raff_riffin orlando

15-20min is "near" in Orlando. Where exactly is your office? There are areas that are technically downtown but no one really thinks of them as downtown.

Downtown is really expensive, and not like your usual big city downtown. You can find nicer places for cheaper 15-20min out.

Katt Williams on LeBron by agray20938in sports

[–]skwigger 3 points4 points ago

I watched the NBA in the 90s for Jordan and the Bulls. I wasn't a Bulls fan, but that team was exciting to watch. That said, it was ridiculous the stuff that Jordan would get away with. Jordan could walk up to another player and slap them across the face, and the refs wouldn't bat an eye. Dennis Rodman would look at someone across the court and get called for a flagrant foul.

It's generally standing water that's a problem. Once the water reaches 80 degrees F, it's not a good idea to swim in it.

People don't really get eaten by alligators. While gators are in lakes too, they are generally more common in swampy water, stuff you don't really want to swim in. Plus, gators don't want to mess with you as much as you don't want to mess with them.

Based on zero statistical analysis, more people probably die from mosquitoes than alligators.

Universal, Armed With Cash From Comcast, Takes Aim at Disney by fatshiteaterin Themepark

[–]skwigger 0 points1 point ago

Universal needs to step up the quality of their parks. The places are usually trashed and in disarray. Rides are often broken, Harry Potter land is completely overcrowded while the rest of the park feels empty but you still have to wait over an hour in lines, unless you want to spend even more money to get a FastPass.

Disney may be more expensive, but there is so much more to do,the staff is actually pleasant, and the parks are much more enjoyable all around.
