What is the best text to teach yourself Latin? by nakomiKFin linguistics

Or /r/latin (search first, though). My answer: Wheelock’s, and then real Latin.

A bit lacking in labels: “Lord of Winterfell, Warden of the North” is more important than “Ned”, surely? Hoster? Nothing there. And, we have no distinction between Tywin and Kevan.

From the opening sequence: Jerome Flynn’s icon. Regarding image

Doesn’t necessarily mean it’s in. I wouldn’t mind it being cut.

edit: Looks an arrow, actually. See below.

Well, they did go night to morning for Hornburg/Helm’s Deep. I hope they do so for Blackwater.

As a book reader, why would you put your first sentence outside of any tag? Even if the OP had said he wanted to know (he hasn’t), the post tags are: [S1/2 Spoilers/Speculation]. Anything outside of that needs tagging. Use tags appropriately, please.

Wolves in the Lion's Den by over-thinkerin gameofthrones

OK, but even if we assume Arya wants to be honourable, what’s the difference (in terms of how honourable it is) between naming the Tickler and naming Tywin?

[–]skookybird 23 points24 points ago

Furthermore, given the chance to kill two high-ranking Lannister men in Harrenhal (including Tywin Lannister himself), which would do wonders for her family’s war effort, Arya instead chooses targets that have personally hurt her (or people she likes) or personally threaten her. ACOK

Asos

I don’t really like how they’re adapting Robb and Cat sections, but everything else, Qarth, Winterfell, King’s Landing, Harrenhal, North of the Wall, is somewhere between good and awesome.

Class: Talisa, possible. Cersei, nope. Same class as all the highborn who say MAY-ster.

Culture: Same.

If we’re going to start with regional dialects, perhaps Arya, Sansa, Bran, and Rickon should speak like their father, other brothers, and the rest of the North—to my understanding, some sort (or different sorts?) of Northern English accent (though I’ve seen Robb’s described as Scottish, and my own Canadian English ears are none too good at picking these apart). It’s doubtful that their lady mother and whatever other non-Northerners would have such a huge influence on their speech. This is a much bigger deal than the pronunciation of a single word, and yet it has not been attended to. This makes the dialect explanation of MAY-ster vs. MY-ster unsatisfactory to me.

In reality, I think the showmakers simply made a good trade off: excellent young actors, who unfortunately do not have and cannot convincingly put on such an accent.

I do realize I’m on track for some sort of nitpicking award.
