They set the rules. It's a system that rewards the more informed and politically active. One reason our country has been going to shit is because the MSM (with corporate interests) has been guiding public opinion and basically selecting our presidential candidates for us. In my mind, the only way to finally get a true president (who isn't already bought and paid for) is by taking the MSM-influence out of the picture as much as possible. And these caucuses are a good example of what happens when it's only the more politically-active and thoughtful voters who are participating in the process.

Has nothing to do with disagreement and everything to do with attitude and tone, as I mentioned. And I know his other work has nothing to do with this article, but it is relevant to my reason for respecting the man (or as you call it, "hero worship"). If you knew some of the things that this man has put himself through in order to report from the middle-east with a different perspective by speaking to people like bin Laden and other leaders (as well as civilians) then maybe you could understand why I value his role as a journalist.

Fisk isn't my hero, I just have a lot of respect for the man...having actually read some of his work. I can guarantee he has witnessed and experienced first-hand more than almost any other journalist alive right now when it comes to the middle-east. You, on the other hand, remind me of Hannity and O'Reilly. I think your tone and attitude would fit in very well on that network with the other "adults".

Hero worship? Simply because I feel it is childish for you to be so hateful ("Fuck Robert Fisk") and disrespectful over such a minor complaint without even acknowledging all of the important work that he has done? And claiming that he is calling American soldiers "potential serial murderers" because he points out that the commander found it necessary to warn them against misguided violence towards civilians is just twisting his words as well. But having said that, doesn't this exact scenario of a rogue American soldier slaughtering innocent women and children prove that American soldiers can be potential serial murderers? I live in the real world, using facts and actual events to back up my arguments in a reasonable manner while remaining civil and not slinging around disrespectful insults ("Fuck Robert Fisk") and childish accusations such as "hero worship".

EDIT: Also, this isn't the only occurrence of American soldiers intentionally killing innocent Afghan civilians.

I would hope so, considering it is an opinion piece. For someone who edits his post to call any downvoters "children" who should "go elsewhere" because this is a place for "reasonable, intelligent people"...you use some pretty childish and uncivilized language yourself.

I want to see this guy rot in jail for eternity, but fuck Robert Fisk.

How can you be so disrespectful to Fisk over such a petty complaint after everything the man has done towards educating the western world about what is truly going on in the middle east? This book alone has done infinitely more for spreading valuable information regarding the situation over there than the MSM will ever do. He is one of the few Western journalists to have interviewed Osama bin Laden (three different times). In my opinion, he has been a vital resource for valuable information and your childish disrespect over something so insignificant is why I downvoted you.

Look at the way Herb flies in there to stop the fight...this is why he gets so much love from the mma community. Other refs (you know who I'm talking about) would have probably waited to see a few undefended blows to the head before calling it. Good refs add so much to the professionalism of this sport.

It's part of the reason I chose to move here. This city seems very rich in and supportive of the arts, especially considering how small it is. I've lived in New Orleans and Los Angeles, but Asheville seems much more in-tune to my frequency and much less intimidating to me as a musician just starting out.

I don't think this guy understands how exit polling/statistics work. If his argument is solely based on sample size vs. total number of votes, then he fails to understand the science behind the methods used. An increase in sample size doesn't necessarily mean more accurate polling. There are many other factors at play, and it is quite possible to make a prediction based on that sample size with the right data.

This is not a very effective way of talking to/educating people. What does this do other than further turn people away from knowledge and truth? The message is one of peace, love (compassion), and understanding and can only effectively be spread through those same means.

Why should we? If you see videogames as another form of art, it's up to the artists themselves to fulfill their vision...whatever that may be. Comparing it to music, that's like saying "Well you have all of those other instruments and sound effects you could be using, why are you just playing solo acoustic?". Maybe flashy graphics would actually take away from what the developer was going for, or maybe it doesn't play to their strengths by focusing on such things.
