Frequency of Hair and Eye Colour Pairings by sebcoein dataisbeautiful

I just noticed at the top right it says 279 'responders with blonde hair', so this must represent the results of a survey taken. The frequency of hair/eye relationships probably still represents the world pop. reasonably well but not the frequency of hair colors.

Here's a description of how the cycle shows relationships along with several other pretty examples.

Picky, but ecstasy is not a good choice of drug for that hypothetical.

"If you've done nothing wrong, you've got nothing to fear" - your take? by Lavenoin TrueAskReddit

That stance involves placing judgement of what is 'wrong' entirley in the hands of whoever is looking. I do not believe everything 'illegal' is something I may not want to do at some point in my development, and I especially do not believe there is not significant potential for future lawmakers to make laws incongruous with what I naturally wish to do.

It was capitalized in the article, so I assume kCal. Plus, 1/10 x 60 x 24=144 / day, and the brain accounts for ~20% of energy consumption, so this makes much more sense as a lower bound than does .144 kCal.

Adenosine may play a higher (or overwhelming) role, but heavy thinking uses more energy than more idle thinking. This article uses the example of 1/10 Calorie per minute for brain survival and 1.5 Calories per minute for heavy reading.

Only if you judge an entire group by one person, in which case the person judging so foolishly causes the problem, not the irresponsible individual.

Is rolling on Molly in consecutive nights a bad idea? by unmotivatedsuperheroin Drugs

[–]sebcoe 0 points1 point ago

Serotonin is broken down into free radicals by monoamine oxidase B, and the antioxidants in the axon terminal usually keep these from doing damage. The excess of serotonin being broken down with MDMA use overwhelms the supply of antioxidants in the nerve cell, so the oxidative products of serotonin can enact damage.

In theory it should not work so well the next day, but I've rolled hard the day after my first dose (a small one). Maybe it depends on how much you take.

True, take 5-HTP freely the next day or a day before, but don't dose it too close to the MDMA. Serotonin syndrome is dangerous.

Pretreatment with SSRIs would prevent(or compete for) the primary activity of MDMA - you wouldn't get the high. Taking it after makes some sense, but you're mostly stopping the high when you take them. Most of the neurotoxicity likely comes from the serotonin itself, and if you prevent that, you prevent the high.

How much do we know about the harm, specifically neurotoxicity of MDMA? by undermisensiin askscience

[–]sebcoe 0 points1 point ago

You mentioned in the other thread the lack of glial cell markers associated with disrupted 5-HT activity. Do you think this could result from the several different ways MDMA can disrupt the serotonin activity? Cell death is the concerning one, of course. What if the studies only examined cases of serotonin disruption from depleted 5-HT or downregulated 5-HT receptors?
That would not mean MDMA does NOT cause cell death, it would just mean MDMA can ALSO disrupt serotonin activity in ways other than cell death.

If you feel like linking some of the studies, we can look at the time at which the brain was analysed. Results from several months after MDMA administration would eliminate the possibility of those other two methods of 5-HT disruption.

[–]sebcoe 1 point2 points ago

To address your theory, undermisensi, I don't think it would do much if serotonin is depleted. The primary damage I'm talking about comes from an overwhelming amount of serotonin in the axon (MDMA releases serotonin straight into the axon, where it is broken down, while the body naturally releases serotonin directly into the synaptic cleft, outside the cell.) The amount of serotonin being broken down overwhelms the antioxidant supply. Some of the products of serotonin hang out in the axon and cause damage because there are no antioxidants available to quiet them.

So, yeah, the issue is MDMA exhausting the serotonin supply, but the damage comes from too much serotonin in the axon for the body to safely break down.
