TROPHY CASE

Chicago Police Union Denied Overtime Pay For NATO Work by warmowskiin chicago

[–]scrod 0 points1 point ago

I'm actually not white, but white people have just as much responsibility (if not more, due to their skin privilege) to recognize and combat genuine instances of racism. The fact that you seem so preoccupied with the racial identity of those who choose to talk about racism is actually kind of disturbing.

First of all, my race and ethnicity are none of your business, and second of all, it's completely irrelevant to the point of discussion; the truth is the truth, no matter who says it.

[–]scrod -1 points0 points ago

Nope, not really, because the parent poster is explicitly referencing racism against blacks vs racism against whites.

Great job, White Knight.

And here I will pull an omgdonerkebab — who are you to assume what race I am? Because it's not "white-kniting" unless one is coming from a position of privilege.

Anarchism for Fun and Profit by jprichardsonin programming

[–]scrod 0 points1 point ago

Fair enough, but "profit" does not mean "work"

That's right — profiting does not imply actually working.

Mutualism is an economic system which is compatible with anarchism that addresses some of these practical needs, and is what I'd rather see advocated in this situation.

Your comment only makes sense if you think there's such a thing as reverse-racism, which there is not. That's because racism is the intersection of prejudice and power, and it's pretty damn obvious that black people in this country are not the group exercising that power. So the fact that you think that a) being white and b) being identified by your race entitles you to exercise actual oppression in response (e.g., using the term "nigger"), is not only ironic, but in fact actually racist.

Anarchism is inherently anti-capitalist, which is why it makes no sense to discuss Anarchism in this context. The presentation's author, however, has very carefully side-stepped that fact.

Could someone please explain to me how it's even remotely possible that he's a snitch now? He was entrapped by an actual police informant and charged with solicitation for possession of explosives or incendiary devices and given a $500,000 bond! This has been all over every major US newspaper and the NLG is defending him officially.

HOW IS HE STILL CONSIDERED AN INFORMANT?!

This is so far beyond being paranoid that it's now into full-on malicious stupidity territory.

It would, if that had actually been the goal — but there is zero evidence in the facts supplied to suggest it was.

Surely blowing up civilians for a political cause...

A police informant volunteering to buy you things from Hobby Lobby does not constitute "blowing up civilians".

Shame on you protesters: What I saw from the protesters over the weekend made me not want to support their cause. Details inside. by moderate_extremistin chicago

But these demonstrations got violent.

Nope, not really, but as I said already, you obviously wouldn't know that.

I get that you don't agree with my right to free speech.

Nope, not really — I have every right to call you out for what you are, as do you to be a dumbshit, and I will take every opportunity to challenge people like you who have disturbing and broken views of reality wherever they poke their heads out.

Oh, and I love how you attack leftists while claiming to advocate for workers. Your ignorance is astounding.

[–]scrod 1 point2 points ago

No, most people who were "protesting" were advocating getting laid by their college girlfriend who would think they were such a rebel and visionary for protesting, then getting totally fucking baked on a sweet bowl of weed they bought using their trust fund.

Nope, not really, but as you were sitting on your ass absorbing biased opinions all day, it's no surprise that your view of reality is as distorted as it is.

Now I'm glad you care about poverty, but if you think that public demonstrations — an exercising of free speech — have no place in society, then your vision of social change is gravely flawed.

Oh, by the way, I love the double standard applied to protesters and cops — when the latter get out of line we see a) wild-ass attempts to find blame among protesters themselves, b) outright disbelief, and c) a singling-out of "bad-apples" among the otherwise gloriously honorable CPD, while 100% of the former are deemed outright scumbags because one person tagged a car behind a restaurant. Of course the real reason is that people who publicly challenge the status quo are automatically assumed to be in the wrong, and are therefore all individually required to demonstrate impeccable character.

[–]scrod -1 points0 points ago

Oh, okay, so therefore all protesters must be privileged — nice logic you've got there. Did you know that most people marching were advocating for better labor conditions and benefits, and increased control in the workplace (i.e., against austerity)? So if you are one of those people who can't afford to take time off on a Sunday to protest, then you should be thankful that there are people advocating on your behalf. Your comment embodies the height of arrogance and ignorance, and the fact that you choose to attack protesters who fight for progress is both repugnant and despicable.

Ignorance of reality is fairly easy to determine in an objective manner, and your personal opinions on police (or rather their presumed collective innocence and irreproachability) do not serve as a basis for challenging that.

Then please excuse me when I act surprised after seeing a majority of comments referring only to "the protesters" as an unspecified mass noun.
