You know what they say, "Tom Waits for no man."

It worries me that women actually think ending an abusive relationship is as simple as "leave them". by britty_loo_92in TwoXChromosomes

I swear, this makes me feel sad. A good friend of mine suddenly went through a very deep depression where she could not eat, sleep or function for several months. This one girl kept standing over her yelling at her to "just eat something already!" or "just take a freaking nap" and that her issues "weren't bad enough to be depressed over" I got into the most serious fight with her. My argument was that she had no idea what was causing our friend to feel this way. Neither did I. I told my depressed friend to seek help for months before she listened to me. She still struggles with it, 5 years later. But at least she's finally getting the help that she needed from trained professionals.

What are your favorite things to do with friends that are cheap, easy and instantly fun? by Noedelin AskReddit

Letterboxing is much like Geocaching, except different.

It, much like Geocaching is pretty much a glorified scavenger hunt/ adventure time activity with hundred of thousands of boxes hidden around the world. The key difference is that letterboxers tend to be more old school. Each letterboxer has their own personal stamp (think ink/rubber, not postage) and each box has a "guest book" of sorts. These stamps are not the kind your grandma buys at a craft store. Most of the boxes I have found have hand-carved homemade stamps.

Usually GPS is not involved, as it is with Geocaching. Letterboxing clues can be riddles, math equations, or simply directions written in laymans terms (e.g. 50 paces east, look for a big tree). There is a website where one can look to find local boxes. Usually there is a theme to a series of boxes. Geocaching is a much newer form and gives little trinkets. Letterboxing dates back to 1854 and some of the older letter boxes from decades ago are still in commission. Each box contains a stamp (many homemade and intricately carved by hand) which the creator intended to be shared by all.

There is nothing worse than getting to a box that is supposed to have a particularly beautiful stamp and finding nothing but a bouncy ball.

JUST DO NOT, EVER, EVER, EVER MISTAKE THIS FOR LETTERBOXING.

I letterbox. We lose some of our best stamps to those damned Geocachers. If there is a stamp, an ink pad, and a pad of paper, just walk away. Find some other box, you ruffian.

Depending on the size of the group, I have a few great outdoor games I used to play with particularly large (read: 12-20) groups of friends. One is just SPUD, which is a really fun game that you only need a ball for. Look it up if you don't know what I am talking about. The other one was called Bouffer ball. There were no balls. You assign 2 people to be the "Bouffers" and they are given socks (like knee-highs) filled with quantities of flour. If you get hit by this sock of flour you have to yell out "I GOT BOUFFED, I NEED A HUG!" There were 2 huggers. It's basically a twist on freeze tag and it's awesome. Otherwise if you have a deck of cards Mafia is again a great game to play.

I COME TO TAKE YOUR SOULS!

Pray for me /r/Christianity, I'm getting married today! by someone_somethingin Christianity

[–]schmeryn 1 point2 points ago

The OP said in response to a better phrased asking of this question earlier on in this post.

Prayer certainly doesn't absolve me of the responsibility of making myself a better husband, and I never meant to imply that it did. I believe that Christians should work as hard as they can to eradicate sin from their lives, but ultimately the Christian's working is God's working. I think this is what the Apostle Paul believed, too: "But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me." (1 Corinthians 15:10).

Does this help?

I'm horrified that a magazine would actually print these things about a woman - especially a magazine that seems to be aimed at tweens/teenagers. by qibain TwoXChromosomes

Wow, "Here's how to write better hate mail!"

Because that is totally what women should do to other women. This is the kind of journalism that leads to death threats. Honestly.

There was a man in one of my Honors classes in college who was 42, had dropped out of school at 15 because he had gotten his girlfriend-wife-exwife pregnant. Went to work at a factory, did so until the factory shut down and then got his GED and started college up again at age 40. He was a very interesting person. I think he's graduating this year, too. Going to be an English teacher.

Bryant's for an awesome and authentic icecream drink. At Random is okay, as well (not as good IMHO). Wolski's bar, The Jazz Estate is a must, as well as Foundation tiki bar. Brady street festival, Bastille days, attending a kite festival at veteran's park, and the annual sandcastle competition at Bradford beach.

Probably will get buried here, but oh well... Last March at a St. Patrick's Day parade there was a random stream of elderly gentlemen with their Porsches, Ferraris, etc. smack in the middle of it. They were all proud, waving, their extra skin flapping in the breeze... Pretty common, suuuper boring.

Then the honking began.

They honked their freaking horns for ~5 seconds at a time. I was getting angry and had already consumed some Irish coffee, so I decided to act.

During a pause between honks, about 20 seconds into this display, I shout out at the top of my lungs, "HONK IF YOU HAVE A SMALL PENIS." Everyone in a 25 foot radius turned and laughed with me. Someone bought me a green beer.

Good day.
