"What if Honduras just started all over again?" by trot-trotin TrueReddit

[–]sayhar 1 point2 points ago

Interesting article, though frustrating because it doesn't tell us "what happens next".

I guess that's the downside of reporting on exciting but slow-moving plans: it'll be years until we can get a general sense of if it worked or not.

It was so hot it is now illegal to sell any beverage at that temperature. It wasn't normal coffee it was coffee warmed by the fires of hell.

Considering a U.S.-Iranian Deal by RedKosmosin TrueTrueReddit

[–]sayhar 0 points1 point ago

So your position is that Iran and Hezbollah don't have a close alliance. Just to be clear.

Considering a U.S.-Iranian Deal by RedKosmosin TrueTrueReddit

[–]sayhar 3 points4 points ago

le sigh

It's widely known/assumed/believed that Hezbollah has strong ties to Iran. Experts variously call it "an arm of Iran" and "Iran's closest non-state Ally".

It's also widely known/assumed/believed that Hebollah and Israel have beef, as you seem to agree yourself.

Are you disagreeing with either of these two things? Because if you are, then let's be clear that you're disagreeing with a vast consensus that crosses nations, ideologies, and political sympathies. That's fine, of course, but you can't be surprised when people disagree with you.

If you're not disagreeing with these two widely-held truths, then stop trolling. This is purest-true reddit, not "logical fallacy academy".

I wouldn't go that far.

This was a fun way to view the world, but it doesn't seem too correct to me.

"In the end, absent nuclear weapons, Israel does not have that much of a problem with Iran."

Hezbollah is funded by Iran and a significant problem for Israel.

It also seemed like the author was cutting and pasting sentences at times. The whole thing rambled too much for my liking.

Is it unsafe to eat just-fallen snow if you're in an urban/suburban environment? I ask because my college friends do it often for kicks - are they risking their health?

The creator of the flowchart has a PhD. That seems a bit of overkill to me.

Yep, they got Soros money once in an affiliated 527 back in 2004. Since then they've shut down the program and only taken small-dollar donations.

MoveOn.org of 2004 was a very different beast than that of 2011.

And if the DNC and MoveOn were joined at the hip then we'd be living in a utopia of single-payer healthcare, environmental protections, we'd be out of afghanistan, and EFCA would have passed.

MoveOn is trying to take back the Democratic party from the corporations. You might think that's a fool's errand, but that's their mission. MoveOn is the collection of millions of mostly older middle class lefties.

They've spent years and years trying to push the Democratic party in a more people powered direction. That might be a strategy that you don't like (because you prefer ditching all parties, or whatever, I don't know) but the goal is admirable.
