By installing your own OS you're already more advanced than most users. I haven't purchased a computer with Windows on it in quite some time so this is a serious question: does the OEM install ask you for your update choice? Also, this may just be semantics as we can probably agree that the average user would probably just check whatever is "recommended" by Microsoft which is most likely fully automatic.

The point is that by default Linux doesn't force you to restart in some arbitrary amount of time. You may restart when you choose to.

If he doesn't get suspended from this it will be a disgrace. He takes a cheap shot on Krecji and somehow the Canadiens end up with a PP? Isn't that an invitation for other teams to pull this shit on Boston? They know someone on the Bruins will fight after a cheap shot and then they can just turtle and get the PP.

Except that according to the rules it wasn't clipping. Marchand didn't hit at the knee or below. Therefore its not clipping.

The penalty for clipping says nothing about "putting on the brakes" or "leaning away". Ballard struck the other player at the knees which is clipping. Marchand did not strike the knees or below so it is therefore not clipping. I'm not saying Marchand's hit was definitely legal but what rule did he break? (If any).

The rules are more like guidelines.

This is the first thing you've said that actually answers the question. If referees are not required to strictly adhere to the rule book then Marchand's hit could be ruled clipping because it is almost clipping.

You're right! One is clipping, and that is Ballard's hit. He clearly strikes the other player across the knees making it clipping. Marchand however, does not strike the knee of Salo and therefore it is not clipping. I'm not saying Marchand's was definitely legal, I just want to see the actual rule he broke. I think both hits should be illegal (fyi).

First of all that's an ad hominem. Second of all neither player in the Ballard play plays the puck so how is the context "very, very different." Just because Salo got hurt? All I see is Ballard ducking a hit and striking someone at knee level. If he got hurt would that warrant a suspension as well? I personally don't like any hits below the waist (I am rather large and got plenty of hip checks, ducks and leg checks in my day) and I think the rule should be modify to eliminate both plays altogether. I just think its hypocritical that you can't see that both hits are extremely similar, with the one difference being I can't actually find a rule that Marchand broke.

Ah, but like I said before, what rule? Just because Salo got hurt doesn't automatically make it against the rules. The contact was not at knee level therefore its not clipping. I am not saying that it wasn't for sure against the rules but I am looking for a specific rule not "it was dirty" or he "broke the rules".

But you said: "his hip/abdomen hit Salo in the middle thigh". This does not make it clipping. Clipping is across or below the knees. Its where he makes contact not where "his butt was". Sure suspend him it makes no difference to me, my point is the league needs to have explicit rules in place for this type of situation. I quoted the rule book, you just said "it was clipping". Yes it was dangerous and he did a flip but there are plenty of hip checks where players flip over that are also very dangerous but those seem to be allowed.

But without breaking a rule I don't think the league should do anything. If the league decides that this is "a dirty hit" then they should write a rule explicitly banning it. I would be fine with banning all hits below the waist (this includes most hip checks I see in the NHL). I think it erodes discipline when the league is allowed to just decide if something is "dirty". If a rule is broken they should punish it. Everyone is complaining about this hit but I cannot find a rule that was broken. And I am certainly looking for one.

Now, in the video its pretty clear that its not across or below the opponents knees. Also, Marchand reaches the puck first so Salo is in the act of hitting him, not the other way around. Now I can agree that this hit should be illegal, but until someone shows me a quote from the nhl rule book I'm reserving judgment. What rule covers this incident? It clearly isn't "clipping".
