It's more of a question if they'll take him to boot. If you're over your max weight, they'll tape you. If you tape above 22% you're considered not fit for service.

22% is the edge limit. You do qualify at that, but it's not what you measure, it's what MEPS measures. You're close enough to have your recruiter tape you.

If you can get your waivers it doesn't matter. Does your recruiter know about your broken thumb?

It's entirely possible to enjoy Nuke. The problem is people who qualify get pressured into it because it's harder to find people who qualify and actually want to do it. You'll hate Nuke if you go into it because people are telling you it's fantastic without telling you what it really is day to day. I don't know the exact details myself, but I wanted to work computers and didn't dive into it. The same can be true with any rate, but especially with Nuke because you will have a very long training period, and will be worked very hard once you get out.

Also, I agree with dannytt. You failed because you failed, stop making excuses about it. Who cares if you have a calculator or not. If you're failing the class because you didn't have a calculator, you failed to get a calculator. Either way it's still a failure on your part, and the end result is the same. You're either not very motivated or not very ambitious if you're failing a class because you don't have a calculator. There has to be other things at play there. Mow peoples lawns, wash their cars, work a part time job. I bought my own car in high school, I think you can manage a calculator.

Anyways, search around. Nuke gets asked about a lot. There's bound to be someone that has talked about the day to day life. Decide if that's something you want before you go chasing down the rate.

That's kind of harsh. I mean, his dad could have enjoyed it. I'd say Nuke is an excellent choice if you know what you're up for and still decide it's something you want to do. I think a lot of the unhappy Nukes come from situations where the job is made to sound great by recruiters/classifiers and then they get there and it sucks. If you're aiming for that rate, go for it.

Patriots and Belichick were fined and lost their first round draft pick. For comparisons sake, Sean Payton being suspended without pay is costing him alone ($7.5 million) 10 times what it cost the Patriots for Spygate total ($250,000 as a club, $500,000 for Belichick.) Belichick did have a press conference admitting it but saying that he thought it was within the rules, if I remember correctly.

They also lied about the program being present during the initial part of the investigation. I believe that has a lot to do with how harsh the punishments are.

Yep. I'd hold out as well, but with my situation I won't be able to request it for the next few months, so it's now or never. I might eventually grab a second one and SLI them, or sell the 680 and pick up the GK110 chip when it drops.

I didn't see the FTW in the trade options, just the base 680. I think the 2 GB would be fine. I monitor my temps and memory usage when I play games and I've never gotten above 1.5 GB of memory used.

Don't think the job security is really 100% with the cutbacks. I know some people getting forced out in Navy and Army. What branch are you in?

You pay shipping. I have the same card and just put it through the process - bought for 550 though - and they take the price of the new card minus what you paid. In my case and yours, it's $0, so you get the 680 for the shipping cost. They won't give you the cash though.

Have you ever dealt with USAA? Their customer service is awesome, but I've never heard how they treat people when they are actually needed.

I ship Sunday as ITS. You should check your contract. They had me and a few other people I know who took the rate sign a 2 year extension with advanced schooling and promotion to E4 after you finish school.

I'm not in yet so I'm not positive, but I don't think only boomers make visits to foreign ports. If that's the case I believe that'd lead to fast attacks also having shorter deployments. I'm torn myself, boomers are a larger size compared to fast attack, which displace something like 40% of the water compared to Ohio class (boomer).

Oh WTF... I hadn't even heard of that program. That sucks. I'll be gone due to training in the Military for the next two months, so that'll push me outside of my "step up" window for a card I just bought in January. Gah!

Edit: Just got off the phone with EVGA. It wouldn't matter. I have the GTX 580 Classified and the Classified cards aren't available for step up until summer, which will be beyond my step up time anyways. Oh well, I'll just wait for the GK110.

Edit 2: EVGA called me back. They said they informed me incorrectly, I can return the classified for the GTX 680. EVGA is a pretty awesome company, most companies would just say "eh forget it, don't call him back." I really appreciated the callback... Anyways, good news for classified owners.
