Who is the most interesting contemporary Jazz Musician? It's gotta be Miles Okazaki by jazzfeastin Jazz

I hadn't heard of him, I'm loving this stuff. Thank you for pointing me towards him.

As someone who is not interested in any kind of formal "subject" and "composition" I love it. I think the whole thing flows well together, and I would not call it a "massive doodle"... also I don't agree that the color scheme is not organized. Beautiful, keep going!

I'm going to start posting all my freeprov sessions on here, starting with this one that happened this last thurs(1/26/12). Y not, rite? ¯\(°_0)/¯ by mosspassionin experimentalmusic

Awesome dude... digging your sound choices and pacing. You did this live? I will be following your soundcloud, looking forward to hearing more.

Whoop, I guess I just didn't have the same definition of fitness nuts... I understand what you're saying, although if you do it healthily, especially with a balanced diet, you nearly can't exercise too much. Our bodies are built for it.

Uh, the middle ground... probably not as healthy as the fitness nuts, as much as you'd like to tell yourself that.

A couple older things that are still quite forward looking, off the top of my head... look at Thelonious Monk (Brilliant Corners, or anything really), Bill Evans (Sunday at the Village Vanguard), also Herbie Hancock's Headhunters are great if you're looking for any funky fusion!

Hell yeah dude, I checked out some of Surface of the Bottom and liked it a lot! The evolving filters moving around are quite nice, and I definitely enjoy the groove. What are your influences? I hear some Medeski, Martin & Wood type stuff going on but I can't say that for sure of course :) Keep it up! I'll try to listen to some more at some point.

I won't downvote you, because your opinion is one held by many, but all the "greenpeacy rhetoric" was the point of the movie.

It was some of the first jazz I heard... I won't say I understood it, but it was quite interesting - when you hear jazz players, you know they're up to something, even if you can't figure out what it is.

I agree, and I also think the large speakers can help (a lot) if they are used well and the band is mixed correctly.

Saw Omar Hakim at the bluegrass festival in Telluride last summer playing with Jerry Douglas. He is incredible, I love his playing.

Thanks for posting, awesome performance!

I'm always astounded by any of his playing. Check out his albums as a leader, there's Light Made Lighter which is incredible, and also Junk Magic which has some electronics - very weird, extremely interesting!

I'd imagine you might have a love-hate relationship with the festivals, but I can't wait to head down for the bluegrass this summer. Your town is a gorgeous space to spend vacation time.

The Last Resort is testament to Trentemoller not being lazy, for at least that one album. I hope he gets back to that style sometime.
