350 miles, non-stop. by smokeythebanditin running

I'm with you. I am way more excited about a 12 mile long run than going down to the track and running 800 repeats or something for 20 minutes during training.

Ooh, ditto on the Lady Grey. The only one I bought again after my variety pack ran out.

In which we share are crazy party stories involving our Doctor Who costumes. by TARDIStaxiin doctorwho

That story is awesome. Mine isn't as crazy, but here goes:

I was dressed as the TARDIS, but showed up at my first party of the night with my friend who was dressed as a cop. Unfortunately, most of the people there hadn't seen Doctor Who, so they kept asking if I had coordinated with my cop friend because I looked like I was just a police box.

Later I went to a larger party, where a few people recognized what I was. This one girl asked, "have you seen Doctor Who?" to which I replied, "...yeah?" thinking maybe she thought I didn't know about the show and just happened to dress as a police box. Then she explained that she really meant there was a guy at the party dressed as the eleventh doctor, and led my friends and me around the party until we found him.

My costume isn't nearly as complicated or awesome (or accurate) as some of the TARDIS costumes I've been seeing here, but here's a pic anyway from 2 seconds after I met the guy dressed as the Doctor: http://i.imgur.com/lMFy0.jpg

Haha, yeah, that did come up. With my boyfriend standing nearby. Otherwise that's an excellent way to pick up all the ladies dressed as the TARDIS.

I can't read signals! by [deleted]in AskMen

Not a guy, but his behavior sounds kind of like how I've operated before I got used to having awkward conversations instead of avoiding them. With me, sometimes I'd be interested in a dude, and actually start showing interest by paying a lot more attention to him. Sometimes the guy would respond, and I'd either decide to pursue it further, or for whatever reason I'd find I really wasn't into him anymore (maybe another guy came along, or just spending too much time with him uncovered some stuff I though would make us incompatible).

Then, because I didn't outright say that I was interested in him in the first place, I felt like I couldn't just tell him that I was no longer interested in him romantically because that would lead to weirdness and he would probably just save face by going, "oh, that's what you thought was going on? I never felt that way." So I'd try to avoid getting drawn into long conversations with him, and send other hints that I was no longer interested (not making eye contact is my most common involuntary signal).

Don't know if that's going on here, but I think it's a behavior guys might exhibit too (gentlemen? help me out here if you agree/disagree). If that's what's going on, see if backing off on the flirtatious signals for a little while seems to make him more comfortable. Eventually with a lot of these guys once I felt safely back in the platonic region (bah, fine, friendzone) I would resume normal interaction with them.

True, the emotional stakes run extremely high, and the best way to do it is to have all the people you love in constant peril. Not saying that's the intended message. It's just that now, whenever I read the books, I always get anxious for people who have attachments to others, such as CoK late spoiler I think it also just gets worse with every book as I grow attached to certain characters.

Credit to Team! - Tips from a veteran medic by [deleted]in NewToTF2

Somewhat new player, with <20 hours total so far. I've been gravitating to medic more than anything else, though, and these are all good tips. My question is, when is the best time to uber someone after the start of the game? I used to die with a full charge pretty often, so now my tendency is to pop it early or at the slightest provocation, especially if my target isn't talking to me on the mic. How do you know when the right moment is? And what's the best course of action once it wears off?

I do check the leaderboard often, though, and pay attention to the names of good heavies, soldiers, and demos on my team, so at least I know some good people to give it to.

I like it. I wonder if I could get some sexual harassment stuff in there. One of the messages literally says, "I'd fuk dat pussy till it has no juice"

Isn't there also some new government push to crack down on hackers? Maybe congress has just passed some new bill that ships offenders off to Guantanamo Bay because they are now considered a threat to national security...

Some things I've come up with are to respond to each message with impeccable grammar (some of them are pretty disgusting, by the way), post a new picture and reveal myself to be a middle-aged balding man (or anyone who is not some hot girl pulling up her shirt), post a whole bunch of weird stuff on my About Me, do some other troll-like things, or be boring and delete the account. Reddit, what would you do? I obviously need some help coming up with good pranks to pull.

Do you mean you run every day? That's hard.

For me, seeing pictures of myself running races in the past definitely helps. I've also joined a site that tracks my mileage and where I can see other people's workouts.

Both eyes? Through it all, I've at least had the fact that it was only one. Good luck to your dad; hope everything stays okay.

So yeah, on July 5th I did call and reached the doctor on call. He told me it was probably re-detached, but there was no point coming in until the next day because there was nothing they could do then anyway. Thankfully it didn't require immediate attention, but they had me in surgery again within a week.

Shit, man, that really sucks. I hope things don't get worse for you. And I can totally sympathize with bending the rules a little bit--sometimes you just have to.

Good luck to you too.

Sounds pretty good, but have you run into any problems with the chuck being 1/4" instead of 1/2?

Aha...I had an inkling I should avoid Black and Decker; this list is helpful, as well as your previous tips. Right now I'm looking at Bosch and Hitachi, since those seem to be cropping up in other comments too.

We had DeWalt drills to use in one of my prototyping classes; they were fine, even if they seemed to burn through battery pretty quickly. I guess since they were just acquired this year quality may start to suffer?

You make a good point, but isn't it true that modularity makes the design of the tools a little sub-optimal? As in, a kit like what you're describing might be okay but you could get better versions of each tool if you buy them separately and don't worry about fitting into the battery system. I'm also not too concerned about having anything be cordless except the drill, so maybe I have a different perspective.

Battery warranties sound really useful though; I'll look into it.

What does that mean?

Sorry to disappoint, but I guess you never know.

Cordless would be preferable.
