Waitressing yesterday, I greeted a table that asked me if, as a server, I think a bus of children or elderly folks is worse. At that moment, I knew I had met my first Redditors in the wild. Check out what they left me! (Thanks, friends!) by rogers8290in pics

I could definitely try! I'm a server trainer, so I'd like to think I have some sort of pull with things like that.

When they started asking me about the school bus of kids/ elderly folks, I remembered the two posts that made it to the front page a few days ago (having trouble finding the links), and I asked them if they were Redditors. They said yes, and I told them I remembered seeing this on the front page. We talked a little bit about Reddit-related things; nothing too spectacular. It was pretty awesome, though. Really made my day :-)

Yep. I gave them their credit card, said my goodbyes, and when I came back, they were gone. Just as mysteriously as they had come...

I told them I thought a school bus of kids is much worse. I worked in a small family restaurant/ ice cream parlor for 3 years (fish tank, toys, coloring books were there to entertain). Believe me, a restaurant full of screaming kids wearing heelys is way worse.

"Government, under whatever point of view we examine this topic, is unfortunately pregnant with motives to censure and complaint. Incessant change, everlasting innovation, seem to be dictated by the true interests of man kind. But government is the perpetual enemy of change. What was admirably observed of a particular system of government2 is in a great degree true of all: They "lay their hand on the spring there is in society, and put a stop to its motion." Their tendency is to perpetuate abuse. Whatever was once thought right and useful they under take to entail to the latest posterity. They reverse the genuine propensities of man, and, instead of suffering us to proceed, teach us to look backward for perfection. They prompt us to seek the public welfare, not in alteration and improvement, but in a timid reverence for the decisions of our ancestors, as if it were the nature of the human mind always to degenerate, and never to advance."

When I was younger (probably around 10 years old) my dad stopped smoking. Unfortunately, he soon after started getting his nicotine fix from chewing tobacco instead. He usually spit into a cup or soda can, and would throw it away afterwards. I was drinking a Pepsi in our living room, watching tv with my dad, and somehow between leaving the room and coming back, I got our cans confused. Needless to say, it was a rude awakening to taste used chewing tobacco when I was expecting Pepsi...

Have you had a dream that messed up your day because you thought it was real and you woke up feeling horrible? by againstfifteenin AskReddit

[–]rogers8290 0 points1 point ago

I was 11 at the time, and it was just following the 9/11 attacks. It wasn't so much a dream as that state you're in just between sleeping and waking. I must have been having some sort of nightmare. I woke up to the sound of a plane flying overhead followed directly by the sound of a thunderclap (I had been sleeping through a thunderstorm). The two sounds (because I was in that state between waking and sleeping) sounded like a bomb being dropped and exploding. I assumed that we were being attacked again, so I raced out of bed and charged into my parents' room and told them we were being bombed. I was so freaked out, and upset that they didn't believe me and simply told me to go back to sleep. Definitely had a difficult time just going back to bed after that.

Guys in the friendzone by DLCoopaTroopin funny

[–]rogers8290 44 points45 points ago

This. Plus, Jim was never friend-zoned by Pam. The whole point of the idea of a "friend-zone" is that attraction is only felt by one side. Pam always had feelings for Jim, and he for her. She just felt confused about them because she was already engaged. Jim and Pam's situation was more of a timing issue than anything resembling a friend-zone.

Question for waiters: when I stack up the used dishes at my table for you to carry off, is it actually helpful? Or do you have a system that I'm actually fucking up. by MateoDemoniin AskReddit

The last restaurant I worked at, we had a woman who always came in and complained about her food and would send it back nearly every time. I think one day she sent it back twice, and our cooks were fed up and (I didn't know about this until after the fact, or I would have definitely stopped them) they did some nasty stuff to her sandwich, adding the textural pleasure of pubs. Makes me wonder if this happens often. Horrible.
