If you were put in charge of trimming Earth's human population down to 3 billion or so, what would your criteria be for who stays and who goes? by Clayburnin AskReddit

[–]rjnr 0 points1 point ago

I'd simply want to know that they were truly aware of their own mortality.

Edit: Actually, I just realised how you could do this. Create cult, with the backing of commercial companies,, like Coca Cola, McDonalds (brands that stupid people trust implicitly), with the premise of "crossing over to another world", a kind of heaven, if you like, all sponsored and organised by Google and Facebook. Finally, arrange a mass suicide, for everyone who wanted to see this "other side", with a firm rule, that anyone who forces another to take part, will not get to the other side; it must be purely of free will. A touch of organised Darwinism, mixed with a touch of the old adage, "curiosity killed the cat".

Reddit, as a classical musician, tell me what we could do better. What is it about classical music that keeps you away from our concerts? by a12345678910in AskReddit

[–]rjnr -1 points0 points ago

Do a gig with the chemical brothers, rearrange classic songs in a pop formation and limit tracks to 4 mins max. I've found people in the popular music sector, respond less to instrumental pieces and respond even less if it does have vocals, but sung in operatic form. Perhaps employ a lead singer, like Mika or some shit. Use a bass guitarist, instead of a standing bass (bass guitar sounds awesome, give that classical music some funk!). Cover popular computer game tracks in the style of a famous composer. Bite the head off a bat, at the end of each gig. All of the above should do the trick.

I'm English and love the French :) here's to dismissing stereotypes! Though to be fair, I don't really like most English people.

Computer Experts: What's a computer trick you think everyone should know? by jojojokin AskReddit

[–]rjnr 0 points1 point ago

You can merge some files together using command line, with the copy /b command. I find this useful for merging vob files, as there are so many bulky, spyware ridden apps out there just to do this simple task.

Of all the nations to come up with this, I think I would have guessed Russia, last. Maybe it's a trick and it will actually just hide people's downloads even more? Yeah, that sounds more like Russia.

You know what I hate? Being judged by my ancestors.

I once gave my mom a cd, and she told me all the songs sounded the same. I then found that her cd player was on track repeat. What are your parents' technology fails? by pseudosarain AskReddit

My dad has had several. One time he called me downstairs to tell me the TV was broken and he couldn't get it back on for shit. It turned out it was on standby... He's been using a TV like this for years :O and he's well aware of standby. He also gets confused as to where windows go, when he minimizes them... He taught I.T. in the 80's, text-based, mind you, but I still think he's losing it.

Louis is the only cat I know who's obsessed with water. This is what I deal with every time I'm in the bathroom. by KatastrophicKin aww

[–]rjnr 0 points1 point ago

My cat Gwen spends 60% of her life in a sink, hoping the tap starts to drip, she isn't much bothered about the bowl of water we leave for her. I've even caught her licking rain water off the bin lid outside... I'm not sure what her deal is.

Now there's trance from the early 90's, which is an offshoot of acid/techno and then there's trance from the late 90's, which I presume is what you're talking about, as it's the popular stuff. I do get what you mean about trance, but they do a good job remaking other songs...

[–]rjnr 0 points1 point ago

I've given in. Most artists are like this (Chipmunk, neYo etc.) I couldn't name one of their songs, in fact, I'm amazed I can name the artists, but on the radio, I hear their names constantly and just in case someone here doesn't realise this... ALL THEIR SONGS SOUND THE SAME! You may say "well don't listen to it then", well, I don't get a choice. It's the popular radio station of work that plays all this rubbish and it plays in every shop or shopping centre, I walk in.

If string theory allows for infinite possible universes, with infinite possibilities, then is it not possible that in one universe, there are no other universes? by rjnrin askscience

[–]rjnr[S] 0 points1 point ago

Cool, so what about the possibility of there being a person in one universe that has already built a machine that destroyed our universe? Does that also indicate that is impossible to destroy our universe?
