Absolutely, but I think the rationale is that devices that are only a year old should be getting the latest updates without having to resort to roms.

Sorry, but this kind of mentality is harmful to the Android brand. "Root it" or "flash a rom" cannot be the answer to every single problem. That is not a viable solution to 90%+ of Android users.

Which Android OEM releases one phone a year? How many other manufacturers release a phone with iOS? Now compare that number to the number of manufacturers that release Android devices. It's most certainly a numbers game.

All joking asides, it's because Apple releases so few new products each year. There is one iPhone a year, one iPad a year, and their Mac line sees redesigns less often than that. Samsung releases how many new products each year? It's just a numbers game.

So those studies prove that 100% of Apple's sales are because of brand loyalty and advertising, like you suggest?

Of course brand loyalty and advertising drive sales, like they do for every company, but they do not drive all of Apple's sales.

Apple has a loyal following because of their products. If Apple releases 5 years of bad products, you can guarantee that those fans will turn away. This isn't difficult to understand.
