Dear redditor females: What ever happened to "hands off our bodies!"? by rhtimsr1970in Conservative

[–]rhtimsr1970[S] 0 points1 point ago

That's not the choice in question. The choice, here, is who you'll pay for health insurance. Or, if you're on your parents plan, who they'll pay.

There are myriad medications that people are required to take because of an illness, disease or birth condition. Do you believe that all health insurance providers should be forced to cover them all? If so, why?

Sure, but everything you're saying is based on the false assumption that healthcare is a right. It isn't. You don't have the right to insist that the government force a private company to give you something they don't want to give you. Vote with your wallet and move to a different competitor.

If that's the case, your complaint is with your parents, not Congress. Health insurance is a market just like everything else. If your provider doesn't cover what you want then to cover, switch to someone else. If you use your parents insurance, ask them to change. If they won't, then your problem is with them.

The word "baby" isn't relevant. The debate is over whether it's a living human being or not. And it is at either conception or implantation, depending on which stage you consider to be new life (unique DNA, multi-cell stage, etc).

I would argue that it's worse. Nowadays, fathers are saddled with all the financial responsibility, no matter where the child is, but are faced with an insurmountable obstacle when it comes to custody. The mother can take the children and run across the country and the father can do nothing. It is very difficult for a father to get access to his children if the mother denies it. Yet he is always held responsible for financial support. Whether he criminally disobeys that responsibility is immaterial to the point. He's still held responsible and can be put in jail.

Romney just stole a MI delegate from Santorum. Can someone explain this? by rhtimsr1970in Conservative

Here's the full original story by the Boston Globe.

The GOP leaders just decided to give one of Santorum's delegates to Romney, totally outside of the established rules.

Killing babies no different from abortion, experts say - Telegraph by rPoliticsCensorsin Conservative

[–]rhtimsr1970 0 points1 point ago

The headline is misleading, HOWEVER... The point being made is interesting. At some point, you have to wonder why people who believe it's okay to do ultra-late-term abortions have a problem killing kids a few days outside the womb. What's the difference between a 35-38 week baby in the womb and a 40-42 week baby outside the womb? Very very little.

Did the Democrats plant her in Georgetown three years ago as part of their long con?

I think there's a good chance, yes. How long has the national health care fight been raging?. I don't want to sound like a conspiracy kook, but this is how the left plays. They used to do this with the unions. Plant a union stooge on the inside of a place they wanted to break and then get that person - now having standing to complain - to make a stink. Obviously there's no proof of any of this. Something stinks though.

Boehner calls Limbaugh remarks 'inappropriate' by ttruth1in Conservative

You mean his remarks on this specific Sandra Fluke incident, or his remarks in general? On this specific incident, I don't know how widely accepted his view is. But in general, there is no other more-pivotal character in the conservative base than Rush.

General election poll: Obama 46, Santorum 43 // Obama 48, Romney 42 by magister0in Conservative

[–]rhtimsr1970 0 points1 point ago

For the love of God, can we stop doing these head-to-head Obama vs. GOP polls until a nominee is selected? They are meaningless until the nominee emerges. This happens every single time where an incumbent is running. He leads the entire time until the primary is over.

You're not seeing the big picture. The Dems are pulling a long con, knowing where the individual mandate is and what Obamacare requires starting in 2013 and 2014.

This specific instance is about Georgetown but (a) Congress has no authority on which they can to tell a private university to start paying for BC and (b) that private university (like every other institution) will have to start complying with insurance provider mandates in Obamacare very soon.

This is about taking a minuscule, irrelevant, personal decision (like an individual's Birth Control choice) and injecting it into a national discussion of 'rights'.

The left wants everyone to believe that health care - all health care - is a right and everything related to it should be debated as such. Don't be fooled by dog-and-pony shows.

She then began lobbying the school to change their policy

Had she only done that, that would be fine. But she is now lobbying Congress (ie. taxpayers).

It would be in the government's interest that there be no homeless. Should houses be given to everyone? It doesn't matter what you, personally, believe is "in the government's interest".

so they are forced to obtain this medication outside of the plan at great cost to themselves

They aren't forced to do anything, which is the whole point. If their insurance provider doesn't cover something they want, switch to a different insurance provider. It's absurd to suggest that they (the women) are being "forced" to do anything here. Sex is not an involuntary action that you are forced to do. You can choose not to do it. You can choose to switch insurance providers.
