thanks, dude. people need to know these facts. basically, people need to know 2 things in my opinion:

1) you should obviously be as safe as possible bicycling, and bike 'defensively'.

2) (from every study i think i've seen), the health benefits of bicycling outweigh the risks (i.e. if you bicycle, you're more likely to live longer... and healthier, of course). if you bike defensively/intelligently, that just improves the benefit:risk ratio.
