I am moving my mother in with me because she can no longer provide for herself financially. For Redditors in similar situations how did you make it work?

Thanks. I am hoping to do something similar once she has some more money coming in. It would be nice if my sister and I were able to split some type of care costs but at this point it won't happen. I am currently looking for a bigger place so hopefully the time we spent cramped up in my little condo won't be driving us too crazy. Luckily I have family close by so either of us have a place to go.

Part of the free day care was that my sister would be able to work and actually consider school. Instead she quit working, started going out all the time and sleeping all day expecting our mom to take care of her son. Mom doesn't want to leave her grandson but there aren't many other options. Since my sister does not want to work I refuse to send any money.

I don't think her trying to turn my home into her home will be much of an issue. I am already established (best way I could put it) and am fully functioning on my own. The situation with my sister is way more complicated.

I would like her to work part time or at least volunteer and she is will to do either. She is trying to get disability though because her feet are bad and if she goes over a certain amount of hours she will forfeit this. She is currently depressed but I told her she would only have a limited amount of time to mope around before I got on her case.

According to my sister she was a horrible mother that never did anything right. But my sister is a compulsive liar that expects to have everything handed to her. She quit working 2 months ago. She will sleep all day and leave mom to feed/cloth/bathe her son. She is convinced she needs to do it alone with just her and my nephew so I said ok.

We had the same upbringing. We did not have a lot money but we were loved and not abused. My sister had started drinking in high school though and went onto worse from there. According to her none of it was her fault though.

Colleges and insurance! Ask them for records of what happened and when it happened. Then call the financial aid office and ask them why. I am currently going through the same thing with a physical therapy provider. I had surgery 2 years ago and last month a bill for over $1000 magically shows up. I made them resubmit it to my insurance provider since my insurance says I don't owe it. I am currently waiting to see what happens.

You can ask them to resubmit it. Then they either will, at which point you will have at least an extra month (they can easily flag your account to avoid collections) or they will say no. At which point ask to make payments; it's a reasonable request.

Whether or not the school resubmits your aid package call the financial aid people and ask what happened. You may need to resubmit financial documents that prove you needed that extra money.

As a female that thinks diamonds are over priced and over compressed dinosaur farts I would be ok with it. Have you had this discussion with your SO though? This is the important part. If she wants a diamond and you surprise her with a sapphire, no matter how pretty, she will be disappointed. Many women seem to get them to compare with friends.

I prefer amber, it traps the dinosaur farts!

Not that I'm stalking you or anything but can you find any legs, prolegs, or a head capsule, these would indicate a grub. Does it just wiggle around or actually try to move away? If a chrysalis is close to hatching it will be wiggling around to try to avoid a threat. Since it looks like it would be smooth without soil on it my vote is still some type of moth. ;)

I am in the burbs but my cat loves going outside so I am the crazy cat lady that takes her cat out on a leash. Will your cat wear a harness? This may be an option I have seen a man living near Mexican town that takes his out on a harness too.

My friend "lost" his cat like this once when he moved into a new apartment one building over. We searched for hours and he did a lot of crying. Eventually we part ways and go home without finding the cat. An hour later he calls me and says the cat had apparently found a box in the closet of the new place to sleep in then some other boxes were stacked on him. Lmao. The cat was fine until hours later he decided he wanted out and my friend heard him clawing at the boxes.

Ugh. It may have been funny in the "haha I'm an asshole" kind of way but if you actually went up to an employee and told them you broke something in isle whatever you probably wouldn't have had to pay. I've broken stuff a few times and every time I found an employee they said they were just glad I said something so they could clean it up.

It's sweat. It happens to me too. Either one or both of you is a furnace. I found switching to a thinner mattress pad cut down a bit and started sleeping with fewer blankets. If I wake up warm I remove a blanket and the sweating has cut down. I like sleeping with lots of blankets but gave it up because I hated the sweating. And it can change with age, I only started sweating at night like this two years ago.

I refer to it as night swamp ass. Accept it and move on!

This reminds me of a little story about my dentist. I had been going to him for about 3 years when all of a sudden out of no where he's like "how's your dad?"...Awkward moment when I say ummm my dad's been dead 10 years. And he's like "really? I could swear we were just talking about him". Lol. Not with me. It was about 4 visits of him asking how my dad was before he realized he must have me confused with someone else. Or his assistants made a note on my file and circled it.
