Perrier and fruit juice. Fizzy and thirst quenching without the fat-building glucose-fructorse and HFCS. You can also buy grenadine syrup and mixes like margarita mix to add to it as well.

Reddit, what is your, "and that's when the bully left me alone," story? by hayabusabjjin AskReddit

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

It must have been grade 1 or 2 when the biggest bully decided to pick on me (I remember he had red hair and freckles, and he must have been twice my size). He intimidated and made fun of me all day, and at the end of the day he told me that when I came to school the next morning he was going to beat me up real good. I knew he wasn't kidding, because he was known to physically injure the kids he was picking on. He probably enjoyed the feeling of making other kids scared...

Anyway, sure enough, when I walked into the playground the next morning he was waiting for me, along with a crowd of other kids who came to watch. He walked up to me, and before he could make a move, I pulled out my cap-gun, pressed it to his forehead, and emptied the whole damn thing. Well, something snapped in that kid's brain... he must have thought that he'd been shot for real because he started crying and running... he was panicking so bad that he seemed to not know where to go.

Needless to say, he never bothered me again... I got in a huge load of trouble, but it was well worth it.

I'm pretty sure this is not Dali. Compare it to this print, or this one and you can fairly easily see the difference.

I heard a guy on a radio show once tell of how he sold his house and got paid in cash, and on his way to the bank the police pulled him over and asked him why he had all the cash in his car. It seems plausible considering that this seems to happen on a regular basis. Whether it's RFID or some other method of scanning - they can tell somehow.

Holy... it's up to versions 7-9 now... I haven't used Chrome in a while, so never noticed how outdated it is. Firefox and Opera are up to date in the Mandriva package manager, but Chromium is only some unsupported developer version. I think I'll uninstall it and download an up to date release and install it myself.

Linux is kind of a mixed bag... depending on which version you're using... you never know what you're going to get. In the end, it's kinda what you make it. However, it's so much faster than Windows on my computer, it's worth a little sacrifice.

Thanks for the help.

It worked fine in Firefox, it was just Chromium 5.0.389.0 that had a problem using the extension. The upvote/downvote count didn't display in orange and blue. The link to open a picture within the page is blank. And when you click on "RES" to open the settings, it opens it at the bottom of the page instead of a splash screen. There are other things, but I didn't use it long enough in that browser, and don't remember what they are.

It's like it sorta works, but in a hacked "not meant to be used with this browser" kind of way. If you know how to fix this, that would be awesome because I'd love to use it in Chromium.

IAE getting a little sick of waiting for desktop-ready Linux? by combuchanin linux

You're right. The only thing stopping me from chucking windows completely is video editing. I am hopeful that the linux community will put "as good as Windows" video editing on the top of the list at least next year.

Audio and video are the two main drawbacks that I can see. I can live without quite a lot that Windows has to offer just to use Linux, but not video processing.

it's front page worthy because it is equally important to highlight these positive police stories. Hopefully, the police will start seeing the big deal we make out of these stories, and start emulating them. The overwhelming majority really appreciate the police when they act like this. Maybe we will start to see less and less of the negative stories and more of the positive ones as the paradigm shifts.

You know, it is important to bring the police abuse stories to public attention so abuses can be dealt with and not covered up; in that way, the police will learn that they will not get away with that kind of behavior. On the other hand, it is probably more important to bring attention to these positive stories to show the police how to be heroes.

I am currently reading The Basic Writings of Bertrand Russell, and by coincidence am half way through Limitations of Scientific Method.

He speaks about knowledge from authority and inference and knowledge from experience and direct evidence. It seems very relevant to this discussion.

"Clearly, if you are going to believe anything outside your own experience, you should have some reason for believing it. Usually the reason is authority."

I would include more excerpts, but I have no way to hold the book open easily right now...

You can read it here on google books.

You know, the interesting thing about it is that if we had taken the money we used for war in the past decade and used it to fund space exploration - we'd already have colonies on Mars and the Moon.

Better yet, if we took that money and used it to cure cancer and other diseases... life extension technology, etc... and to provide free health care to everyone - we could make the only condition of that health care be that your country had to lay down its arms.
