Yeah its pretty obvious:

He told Molly everything and they faked the death by getting Watson to a spot where he could not get clear line-of-sight upon the body landing on the pavement hence why Sherlock told him to “Go back”, so he could not get a clear sight of the body hitting the floor as well as the further instructions “Stay exactly where you are, don't move”, Sherlock securing his best friends, and therefore a completely believable eye witness. Watson is hit by the bike to ensure he is not in a state of physical stress to make him more susceptible to the double, thus securing the lives of all of his friends. Sherlock cuts all ties to become essentially dead so he can get out of the spotlight . The body was the Sherlock look-a-like who kidnapped the little girl hence the screaming when she saw him enter the room and the body double was probably the one thing that Sherlock “needed”.

This is an excellent show!
