The idea of a referendum is laughable without more planning. The Scots don't have a clue what they're voting for - the success of independance is largely based on the deal they get if/when it happens.

  • Primary Schools break up at some point that I've forgotten - early July, I think.
  • Secondary school break up in early July, although most of them have study leave from May, meaning you don't attend lessons and only go in for exams (GCSE) and the odd revision session.
  • AS Exams (first years in 6th forms/FE colleges) are ongoing, and I think they're all done by the end of next week.
  • A2 Exams (second years in 6th forms/FE colleges) are throughout June (I think). Most FE/6th form students are on study leave from next week, although it's effectively the end of the year for AS students.

Shit kicks off again in September.

The squeezed middle refers to the gap between recieving benefits and assistance for everything, and having a wealthy enough familiy to pay for it.

Quite often there's a space inbetween where you don't really qualify for benefits or assistance, but you also can't really afford to pay yourself.

The Town Taking on China was a bit... well.

They shipped chinese workers a few thousand miles over here, showed them the considerably nicer working conditions the British employees enjoyed with substantially better wages, sent them back to China then sacked them.

I'm all for bringing manufacturing back to Britain, and I'm glad the company chose to do so, but still. That's rubbing their noses in it a little. Awkward, much?

Yeah, I have a VM for Debian. Don't use it much though - Python stuff (usually!) works natively under windows, and for class we're using VB.Net.
