What was the most memorable compliment you have ever received? by lerinoumin AskReddit

[–]oldendaze2 1 point2 points ago*

My grandfather on his deathbed. I was the oldest grandchild and living 1000+ miles away, at school, though I grew up my whole life one block from them. We were very close. I got a call late one night to rush back home...because he wasn't going to make it and he kept telling everyone he needed to talk to me. His heart was very fragile. When I got there early that morning his face lit up and he said, "I didn't know if you would make it in time. This damn ticker of mine is about to go. But I needed to tell you how proud I am of you. And not just for what you do, but who you are." He died about 30 mins later.

When I was 17 (I'm 47 now) I remember a casual friends mom going on and on about how "regal" and wise I was. So old of a soul etc during a summer weekend cottage retreat. That she was convinced I was reincarnated, and had to of one day been a king.

I boned her later that night in the shallow water shores of Lake Gitchegumee.

When I was 4, I heard my parents having sex the night before and proceeded to yell "Fuck me, fuck me!" to everyone at my cousin's birthday party. What funny/embarrassing stories from your childhood do you have reddit? by Peenersin AskReddit

When I was a kid I overheard my parents talking also, and the word "blowjob" come up. Next day I asked my mom what it meant, so she explains it is a job that clowns have at the circus, blowing up balloons.

Not long after in grade 3 teacher asks us what kinda job we want when we grow up. Stand up and loudly proclaim, "A Blowjob!"

(Took a while to figure out why my 3rd grade teach had to leave the class for a giggling fit in the hall)

Reddit, what are your three biggest life goals right now? by TwoLegsJoein AskReddit

[–]oldendaze2 94 points95 points ago*

  • Watch kids finish school, finish paying for it
  • Watch them begin their adult lives, hopefully grandchildren
  • Take grand kids fishing

Ya know, I've been incredibly fortunate. I'm just glad to be where I am and have someone to share it with. I tease about my wife all the time, but when it comes down to it...the woman has made me happier in more ways then I believe I could ever explain or imagine better. Giving me children, her life to share. So probably my biggest goal is to just always be as good to her as she has to me.

Got the strap in elementary school (long time ago) for nailing a girl in the face playing dodgeball. Meh. that sucked. I was trying to hit a dude about 40 ft away and just ripped it, and at the last second she just pops her big fat face up right in front of me. Blood everywhere. She lies saying I did it on purpose. Didn't help my own cause being unable to even explain my side as couldn't stop laughing...

What is your favorite food to cook and eat? by oldendaze2in AskReddit

Here is the recipe I use in case you ever decide. You need a big pot for it though. You can also adjust the ingredients down to fit a smaller pot.

the meatballs:

2 lbs hamburger 12 hot italian sausages 1 cup italian bread crumbs 1/2 cup parmigan cheese 2 eggs 1 package onion soup mix 1 tbl spoon oregano 1 tbl spoon basil 1 tbl spoon pepper 1/2 tbl spoon garlic powder, salt

mix all together well, removing sausage casings, let sit in fridge for 30-60 mins to let the eggs set. then roll into meatballs and cook in 375F oven for 5-10 mins or until slightly brown, turning once. Not too long as you want the oil from them to go into your sauce.

Sauce:

4 cans crushed tomato 2-3 cans stewed tomatoes 4 green peppers 1 larger white onion 6-7 cloves of garlic, chopped fine 2 tbl spoons of oregano 1-2 tbl spoons of basil 1 tbl spoon pepper salt

chop green pepper, onion and garlic and sautee' in 2 tbl spoons of olive oil, high heat stirring. add in cans of tomatoes, all of them. add in ingredients, heat until simmer then reduce heat to low, like 2 or so.

Add in meatballs and let slowly cook for 2-3 hrs. Adjust flavor/spices as you go, but by 2 hrs in the sauce will be starting to smell pretty good.

haha, wouldn't worry about downvotes. Hardly anyone around this thread and seems to be me upvoting everything. Hey, we like what we like! I admit to being a notorious meat-eater. But my main reason for making the sauce with the meatballs is the flavor it gives the sauce. I use hot italian sausage in the meat mix which helps make it spicy. After it is made I'm more interesting in the marinara flavor then anything.

Homemade spaghetti sauce and meatballs is another of my favorite to make meals, and again because of the comfort of it, plus the aromas in the house. Takes about 2 1/2-3 hrs of simmering. When I make it I try to get about 70-80 meatballs and freeze all the leftovers in reserve-able portions.

I haven't made it in years. Maybe I'll make it today for the garlic bread if I can find the pans. Do you make it from scratch, like, counter top style?

The aromas are a big motivator for me also! It is one of those simple pleasures I look forward to. I'll cook a turkey once a month just to get the smell in the house all day...

Parents of reddit: What is the worst way your kids have ever embarrassed you? by diamondin AskReddit

[–]oldendaze2 2 points3 points ago

When my son was in grade one, got a call from the school telling me he was being expelled from the bus for 3 days for flipping out and screaming at his sister (who was in grade 3), calling her a whore.

You can imagine the eye brow raises and looks as I pick him up.

Riding home I ask him, "So what was up with that? Why did you call her that?"

"Because she is dad! She REALLY IS!"

"Okay, then what did you mean by that then."

"She is always making fun of me! And it's like one of those scary movies. You know, a HORROR!"

"Uh, yea. Here's the thing. Best just not ever call a girl that again, okay pal?"

My wife, is an extremely outgoing and friendly person, but at the same time often blissfully unaware of what the hell she is saying.

Anyway, to start off we are tall people. I am 6'4". She is almost 6'.

We have had our cars fixed at this neighborhood garage for nearly 25 years. It is owned by a family of brothers. Whole bunch of them. They do really good work and are very honest dudes. But the thing is, none of them are over about 5'5" tall and they suffer from extreme Napolean syndrome. Very rough and tumble types, and right nasty bastards about it too when the work day ends. I've seen them at the bar on many occasions over the years, and the more drinks they get down the more likely you are to see 3 or 4 of them on top of some poor unsuspecting guy who just happened to not be vertically challenged.

Anyway, I send her over to the garage one day because she is complaining about a rattle in the car. She comes back and says, "They are going to have a look at it. And oh, it was a new guy there. He was so nice. Shorty I think his name was..."

Couple of days later in she comes. "Well, that new guy at garage, Shorty, looked at the car and did something under the hood and fixed it. I tried to pay him and he said, Nope! So kind of him. What a nice man."

Week or 2 later in the door from work she comes, "What a beautiful day out there. Oh, I stopped at the bank and I met the new guy from the garage in line, Shorty. He's such a nice man. I think of all the guys over there at the garage he is by far the nicest. And I made sure to thank him again for helping with the car. Thanks Shorty, really appreciated that!"

"Christ sakes Helen. You're going to get me killed."

"Wha..??"

"His name...is Gordy."
