(Spoilers All) When looking back or re-reading what things do you notice or think about a lot more than the first time through by dejerikin asoiaf

Right on, I did this last night with the singer meeting Catlin for the first time. I hadn't noticed it was THAT GUY in the later books, what an unlucky dude.

Theory about how the series will end (very minor spoilers) by dtm9kin asoiaf

[–]oh_bother 5 points6 points ago

I have a strong feeling it'll end with Peter Flalk snapping shut the book as a young Fred Savage begs him to tell another story.

[–]oh_bother 1 point2 points ago

oh! so with the 2k resistor there with the fan off you'll see 12v, when the fan switches on you should see 0v. Not sure if you can tell it to turn the fan on/off, or if you can have it connected with the motor running or what.

I guess it specifies a volt meter, so you should see typical car battery voltage (13 ish volts)... but voltage equals current times resistance (v=IR) so its really going to depend on what pin 41 is doing, if it is pulling current... what kind of car/computer are we talking here?

Hasn't this existed for ages and ages? I remember hearing about this when I was a wee tyke. The absorption is all weird from it IIRC. All they seemed to change was the ability to inject at depths, but I hear these can be really painful sometimes.

which 7 Kingdoms story outside the events of the asoiaf series would you most like to see in a Movie, mini-series, or a novella by JoeTerpin asoiaf

[–]oh_bother 1 point2 points ago

It would have to be in the shaky-cam style of one of those "friends drop bye for a dinner party" shows, except that Hot Pie is cooking for all the lords and when the friends drop bye they get all of the left over juices and parts of trenchers that the nobles and serving staff neglected to throw to the dogs.

Same exact reaction, I just sort of kept pushing on and didn't react... I was way too into the books and just wanted more story. "oh no, hit by an axe... wtf! Lets see how that affects the story..." No walkabouts necessary.

IIRC Jamie wasn't there... or wait, he was already described? I had a thread on this a few weeks ago... It would be interesting if instead of predicting the Gregor spear incident this vision alluded to the story of the Sandor-Gregor conflict as described above... it seems vague enough to be plausible.

hmm tough to find, the board numbers tell me little cause that's all internal, but does that big chip have a symbol like this on it? I am thinking two things, either they use a microcontroller of FPGA... I think freescale has one with built in wireless, but I am having trouble finding the part number.

That or they went balls out and made a full fpga with their own part number, but that is... expensive

Well I had heard a few theories about Rickon and I guess this is as good as any place to put it down. Just in case this crazy theory actually DOES come to fruition I can say I saw it coming a mile away.

So there are a few theories that with GRRM's love of balance tied in with the series title... that the three riders will be a balance between fire and ice. We have Dany, clearly 100% fire. Now Let's also staple R + L = J onto this one and count Jon as another rider... he is 50% fire and ice. To balance the scales we now need one of the Starks.

Dany's dragons have specific coloring schemes, so assuming that it is obvious that Jon gets the light dragon.. Dany already has Drogon, that leaves green/gold.

So here we have Rickon, a wild stark to tame the wild dragon, the only other thread of this theory holding up is a description from GoT where shaggydog leers at Tyrion and is described as having eyes of green fire or something. This whole theory feels like numerology.

tl;dr: Roasted walnuts are delicious.

Any type ones going to/been to Burning Man? by finalcutleryin diabetes

[–]oh_bother 0 points1 point ago

Check the thread over at r/burningman, I don't want to retype everything :P

Same thing applies to you as it does finalcutlery, any diabetics near frank's camp are welcome to share the Wilford B portion of cooler space with me, we are militant about ice.

EDIT, for finalcutlery: OH, and I never had a set rip out because of the sweating, that only really happened in the HUMID north east (working on cars in like 90 degree weather) so you'll be ok on the pump, the dryness and dust really handle sweating quite nicely... Oh I totally missed it, I am in the IRC channel frequently though. All in all I'd say that it was annoying to have to keep more of an eye on my condition but it wasn't anything unmanageable. I think I need to hold a glucose level taking workshop with my friends though just in case something terrible happens.

This year I'll have a CGMS as well, so that will take a lot of the guess work out. There is no way to charge the damn thing without an AC plug though...I have no clue how i'll get past that one.

Crap I just alluded to those in my other post.

I bought one of those tiny powered insulin fridges... I couldn't keep the damn thing running all day so I think it was more trouble than it was worth. I too will be giving the Frio pouches a try this year (I bought them last year) if you are anywhere near Frank's camp I'd be happy to toss your insulin in with our coolers (we don't lock so there would be 24/7 access). I'll probably devise some sort of plastic bag shenanagans to keep the bologna water from infiltrating my precious vials.

Type 1 here, there are some bags that you get wet to keep insulin cool. Also the EMS thing. I brought tons of supplies... extra insulin extra batteries (for pump) extra everything... and syringes and Lantus JUST IN CASE.

Split up supplies between carry on and baggage and camp baggage, our camp kept a cooler cool militantly so Ill be putting supplies in there this year. (hopefully they dont get funky with cooler water lol)

Hung around people who knew I was diabetic, checked my levels more often than normal. Got wicked drunk, had a great time. :)

My control was actually vastly improved by all the biking, I've now started a half hour a day regiment (yesterday.... took me awhile) to keep up with it.

Type 1 for 18 years. check out r/diabetes

EDIT: OH also, I always keep a bag on me, with extra everything, I am all about extras. AND SNACKS from juice to fast acting medical glucose.
