Bike Touring Repair by L3931in bicycletouring

[–]no1name 0 points1 point ago

The alternative for your friend is to get the best tyres she can afford. Punctures re really rare for us, owing to our tyres. Its been years since I had one.

The last series of punctures we had were on my wifes new bike. New bikes usually come with crap tyres, so buying new one is the first investment to make.

As well as below, True a wheel so when you get buckles you can fix them. Get a chain breaker and practice on an old chain.

Is the whole point of chopping a great big hole in your van just to get some more storage? I can't believe it. What about using the back seat footwell, or a roofrack with a container? Its a drastic measure to take with little reward.

Hi again, I saw your message but seem to have lost it. The reason there isn't a need of another prophet is that Jesus did all he had to do in his 3 years of teaching, and his appointment of his apostles, and in his work on the cross.

There is no need for anyone else. Sure maybe John had visions of the future, definitely given to him by God, as a warning for people in a long distant time. Sure Agabus warned about the coming famine, God does intervene in the lives of people and indeed might do so in ways such as this. I have felt God warn me in my life, that doe snot make me a prophet.

But there is no scope, and no need for someone to claim to have divine revelation and change the teachings of Jesus. Its not as if Jesus is dead, and gone, he is still alive, and still working with humanity.

Jesus didn't die on the cross before he had time to tell people the important points of the new Covenant. He knew it was the right time, that he had done all he had to do, that his work was completed.

There isn't a place for another to come and claim to have 'new' teaching.

At the most its just self delusion, and delusion of those who follow him. At the worst its false teaching that separates people from God and from the life giving work that Jesus did on the cross.

If the teachings of Mormonism disappeared from the earth today, and were never remembered, humanity would be no worse off than yesterday. People's salvation would be no further away, heaven would still be unattainable without Jesus. Mormonism does nothing for your faith, its mere human invented padding.

Its like the Jewish sects who built law upon law on the basic commands of God as if more laws would make them more holy. As we know, it didn't work, they became less holy as they lost the essence of what their faith meant.

Its not more laws, and more commands, and more stories that save people, its having a relationship with Jesus, its knowing what Jesus did for you and living your life with the power of the Holy Spirit. Thats why Mormonism is redundant. Its rules and stories made by man.

Went for a Hike. Found a car by BR0THAKYLEin pics

I found a burnt out car in the countryside, rang the police. They were pissed off that I rang them because they said they would have to investigate and had enough to do. Subtle hint: don't report burned out cars.

Not a problem :-) I wasn't looking for an argument either.

I do accept the Revelation and no I don't think John was a Prophet in the way you believe, considering he was a apostle of Jesus and speaking on behalf of Jesus himself for most of it. And also that his words are included in the bible itself which gives it integrity and validity, nor does he add to or change any of the teachings of Jesus.

So do you believe Mohammed and Joseph Smith to be equal?

between you and me, and I am not picking a fight but making an observation. I find Mormon belief structure to be closer to Islam that Christianity.

Afterall even someone with a cursory knowledge of Christianity knows there is no need of any other Prophet after Jesus. It pointless at best adding nothing to your faith, and deliberately misleadingly dangerous at worst.

I love running with my shirt off. Its not an ego thing I love the sun on my skin and the layer of sweat that builds up and the feeling of air around my body. It also forces me to run with a better posture becuase I am more conscious of it.

Is knee damage unavoidable? by fumblesmcdrumin running

[–]no1name 2 points3 points ago

After 15 years of running the last 5 or so in hills, I have never had any knee pain. I don't like running on concrete, I don't like running hard down hills, why anyway it doesn't build stamina, but run up hills on gravel and dirt tracks.

Just listen to your legs, in the few times I have felt a twinge, I took it easy for a day, and let it recover.
