A huge chunk of that still originates in Israel's prevailing freedom from censorship & freedom of expression.

If one had organisations like B'Tselem pumping out as many pictures of Syrian atrocities as its coverage of West Bank incidents yields, I'd expect reddit swarming around these at least as much — more indignation is always welcome. (Alternatively, consider what Al Jazeera did to public opinion about Libya once Gaddafi lost the means to control them.)

What gave you the desire to emphasize this?

I'm asking since there continue to exist these obvious tensions between different Jewish ethnic groups, and I haven't entirely gotten my head around their origins. Haven't dug very deep yet either, admittedly.
