30 North Korean officials involved in South talks die 'in traffic accidents' by Chipzzzin worldnews

Thought of a joke involving rape and cannibalism ( http://www.reddit.com/r/collapse/comments/tty5k/cannibalism_in_north_korea/ ) but I found it too raw to post.

It's taken me some effort to grok continuations and now they want to take them off?? :P

Now seriously, I haven't looked at R7RS deeply enough to judge, but exceptions in other languages are a horrible anti-pattern. I will read more into this...

You cannot possibly forget this game, especially if you speak Spanish.

Hint: read "porkulator" as it would be pronounced in Spanish, then look up "dar por culo" (porcular is some regional slangs).

I'd like this any time, but then again I'm not even in FB.

Awesome, now I just need to substitute the mirror with the front facing cam in my phone and bring the headphones to the canteen.

Light Table: "If we hit $300k, Python will be the third language to be supported out of the gate." by metl_lordin Python

[–]muyuu 2 points3 points ago

It's also the case for other platforms unless the creator is either incompetent or actively sabotages the product so it's not easy to install or use.

It's a legitimate problem with Open Source self-contained software. You truly do your job well, you don't introduce lock-ins and you are competent at packaging it: no money (except maybe donations... which may work for some extremely popular projects but definitely cannot be extrapolated to any project, let alone niche projects like a Clojure editor would be, at least initially). I'll be following this project to see how do they approach it.

I don't think the question is unreasonable. It does mean "hard to monetise" for a product like this.

If you give coders source, chances are they won't have much of a hard time to compile it and make it work. It's not like you gave your little sister the sources to the latest SIMS game.

Some open-source-but-not-gratis products I've seen in the past could without the shadow of a doubt be assumed to had been obscured/made harder to use intentionally in order to be able to monetise them. Or artificially tied to some subscription service. I'm trying my best to come up with a self-contained software package using an open-source-but-not-gratis formula that I'd actually use, and I can't think of any.

I guess they will make the core Open Source and they'll add non-open source stuff to it, like Eclipse with proprietary plug-ins. That analogy makes sense. Something definitely usable but with possible extra stuff on top that isn't necessarily Open Source nor gratis, or maybe a SaaS scheme (hope they don't go too far this way, I like my software local). But we will simply have to trust their judgement. But to be completely honest, the editors I like are all either OSS and gratis, or none. This just happens to be the case. Maybe this is the first exception to this rule.

Which is why I'd take the original PS1 version over this any day.

That, and the fact that higher resolution models look like cheesy ass unless you add a lot more detail, which they have done for Cloud but apparently not for much else.

Obviously not complaining about all the free work, but uhm... pass.

Awkward moments with my grandmother by lulzy12in fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu

[–]muyuu 2 points3 points ago

My grandma is still a young girl in comparison (86) and I'm in my 30s. I hope I can get these extra 10+ years. She raised me for years before my parents felt ready to take care of me (we lost some of my older siblings) so really she and my auntie were like my parents. She's also awesome, really sharp and well read. Has a degree which in her time wasn't very common, also had a business (an art gallery) and had some success too, although I don't think there's much of this on the net - different era.

I culled my friend list considerably with Bomberman Online for Dreamcast. There's something about being blown up repeatedly that doesn't go well. Also, the continuous noise seems to be stressful.

Mario Party 4 didn't seem to cause that much rage, at least not in my family. We played Mario Party 2, 3, and 4 quite a bit.

A German man who alleges he was subjected to "extraordinary rendition" by the CIA has taken his case to the European Court of Human Rights. by Hansamanin worldnews

[–]muyuu 0 points1 point ago

Can you be more specific? Who do you mean when you say others? Because countries that aren't ethnically/culturally similar or compatible with the U.S. are usually oppressive dictatorships or totalitarian regimes.

"Usually"? certainly some are. Most are not, and they are still given the shit treatment. The US has caused havoc, for instance, in many completely harmless countries in the Americas. They had something you wanted, no more no less. Other powers behave similarly before.

And you seem to think we'll implode on our debt lol... Do you realize that if America defaults, we'd be the least effected by it? It will be the rest of the world that suffers before we do. We are currently buying something from almost everyone.

Affected.

The US will take possibly most of the first world with them, but no, not everybody will be as affected. Being the one with the most to lose will make it the hardest to adapt, and you will simply refuse to downsize. Just like it happens in a microeconomic scale, this will just make it much worse. Debt ridden countries are in a tragedy of the commons type of situation, they try to out-stimulate their economies with more debt. Kicking the can down the street. This will end up badly, and as it seems to escalate exponentially, very soon.

But hey, you keep talking shit about America if it makes you feel better.

It definitely doesn't make me feel better. When America goes to shit, I will definitely be much worse off. You also have to take into account that the powers to come do seem objectively worse and more tyrannical than the USA.

Look at these replies. This subreddit is now ridden with liberals and their old false theories.

Of course the point is that she may not think this is the kind of "more government" she is "fighting" for, but it's tried and true that THIS is the only kind of more government she can possibly get, and this is what her "struggle" is ever going to achieve.

Think otherwise? I got good news for you, so does most /r/politics and /r/worldnews , and most of reddit for that matter. Please stop raining your old bullshit on us.

I'd hope so but the US seem dead set to implode on its debt. Very soon and in a messy fashion, together with many countries from the West and all reinforcing the fall of each other. Let's hope it takes time.

Maybe history is not exactly as portrayed by Fox News and CNN? or most media for that matter?

We have internet now and we have little excuse to keep on reading one side of the story and even one language version of the story.

Won't reply to the other part as it seems I'm wasting time.

[–]muyuu -2 points-1 points ago

Impossible to test but I'm willing to believe some other countries would possibly do better. If only by simple probability. One also has to consider that America is nice to their most ethnically/culturally similar or compatible countries, and absolutely despicable to others. So it's not a simple variable to maximise.

I think the US is a better 1st power than the very likely next 1st superpower. China really soon. These will be very bad, because they feel very departed from any other people. We have it coming.

No worse than any other country? most likely worse than some. There are many countries.

Possibly not the worst nor the best, but it definitely could do much better and there shouldn't be exceptionalism for any country.
