It was invented for ammo boxes. Nothing to do with ducts.

I think that Gatorade tastes better when drank from the squeeze bottle. What most likely scientifically inaccurate belief would you defend to your grave? by day_bowbowin AskReddit

Because unless you're letting your Snapple bake in the sun, or re-using that bottle for years, it doesn't matter.

QUESTION - Why don't dualsports have a fuel guage? by Dirt_Bike_Zeroin Dualsport

[–]movzx 0 points1 point ago

I don't know of any motorcycle that doesn't have an overflow mechanism in place for when you place too much gas. That said, filling up your tank to max capacity and then riding in the heat can cause gas to spray out of your tank and into your face.

I fill my KLR up until the pump stops, and then I put in a bit more. My bike holds a ton of gas, so I've never felt the need to top it off.

Think about how fuel gauges work, and then consider why they may not be useful on a motorcycle... Especially one that is going through rugged terrain.

Relying on reserve can bite you in the ass when the pillar filter (whatever the real name is) comes off inside your tank, and your "On" is actually "Run until bone dry"

I've never ridden a road bike with a fuel gauge.

I never have. I've seen plenty of young kids stare at weirdos and want to talk to them.

Are any of you KLR650 owners tall? (6'6" range) by GrillBearsin klr650

[–]movzx 0 points1 point ago

6' and the bike is a bit took tall for me to flat foot with both feet every time. Other than that my only complaint about comfort is fighting wind while riding. I've done a 14 hour ride on my cruiser, and a 5 hour ride on my KLR (both highway) and the KLR left me exhausted. If you're going to do a lot of highway I'd say a larger wind shield is a good investment.

Andy Rubin said for Face Unlock they had to "slow down the process" because it was too fast to make folks believe that any security at all was involved. Is there any way to speed it back up? by caliberin Android

[–]movzx 0 points1 point ago

Or you don't notice. Unless you have very dry skin, you're leaving oil behind. It may not be a ton, but with the right angle and light you should be able to see your super secret unlock sequence. But chances are it's the same as anyone else, make an S of some sort (reversed or normal), or do a spiral.

Kids that young don't have that negative association. They would be fascinated by them since not everyone (anyone?) they meet has so many tattoos.

Programmers do not make good UI designers, and any programmer who tells you otherwise sucks at both programming and designing UIs. It's the number one issue with open source (and why there is a big demand for UX/UI experts on projects).

We really don't give two shits about voting on code and posting something to our company's Facebook page. It seems like you're gearing towards the social side of things (Facebook, Reddit, etc) and that's fine. It's just going to alienate a specific segment of programmers (which is most likely very small to begin with, so no worries).

My curiosity about the open source status is because our dev shop has some junior developers who need feedback, but we don't always have the time to sit down and go over things hand-in-hand to discuss why they made this decision, how it could be improved, etc.

The core concept of your site, commenting on code, could be integrated with many of our business processes. Referencing ticket numbers, pulling from our SCM, alerts on our dev. Wiki, e-mails to managers, integrate with our central login system, etc.

Ideally we would set this up so within our repository browser we could start the code review/commenting process on a specific revision, and fire off an e-mail to the employee when complete.

As it stands now we won't use this because the inconvenience (another set of logins, remembering a site, breaking natural work flow, etc) and insecurity (can you have private pastes?) outweighs the convenience.

What's the best prank you've ever heard of/seen/experienced? by LifeofaLoraxin AskReddit

My friend threw a bucket of grasshoppers/crickets in my school's Campus Minister's office...

If you can't see the parallels on your own, it isn't worth discussing.

Does OSX not have a large community of open source app developers? I just kind of assumed it did because of the UNIX origins.

Are there plans to open source this (at least the commenting aspect, none of the voting and what not)? I could see it being useful for code reviews.

I got worked up over a Facebook comment I saw on some site and wound up responding. Noticed that it shows my company name on my comment with no way to disable it. Immediately regretted making the comment.

And, pray tell, what's the difference between Android running on a phone and Android running on a PC?

My entire point was that just because you're missing the keys on your device doesn't mean the method is asinine. You're missing the keys. Don't act like having those keys is some uncommon event. Every single full/mid size keyboard has those keys. Even your laptop has those keys. It just requires using the Fn button.

Yes, this method will not work for you. We get it. You're using a device that does not have a full sized keyboard. We get it. Just as Ctrl+C doesn't apply to someone using a mobile device, Ctrl+Ins doesn't apply to you. Stop acting like a twit.
