How is the photo of a "Muslim" woman bearing her breasts but not her face that frontpaged reddit supposed to be against women's suppression? It only adds to the "women have faces?" joke. by moosicianin Feminism

Oh I hang out naked with close friends of the same sex in the hot tub on occasion but I don't like the idea of people who don't know each other being naked together. Then it's pure objectification.

I did tell him at the beginning of the relationship and he agrees with me. I'm not controlling him, I just know what I value in a relationship and I don't want to be with someone who looks at other women in the nude.

I guess but I wouldn't want my boyfriend looking at a woman showing off her breasts so she can feel liberated. But that is mere jealousy from our instinctual competitive nature. Both the companies and the women are at fault.

People who dress skimpy are mainly insecure about their body and feel the need to show it off for verification of its attractiveness. Doing this means women are submitting to the expectations of men or dressing for men/lesbians, so either way is not liberating. That song is funny and the confidence is cool. But there's a difference between being classy sexy and skimpy/trashy "sexy."

I don't know any feminist who would condemn a woman for being a stay-at-home mom. However, if she chooses to be that way simply because she thinks that's what's she's supposed to do as a woman, I can see why she would be condemned.

I would argue that they are objectified because they are forced to cover themselves and are seen as objects of lesser importance than men; why would they want to go from one objectification to another?

Yes, she has an attractive body, but what about her face? That should be included in the attractiveness, and I won't go as far to mention personality merely because it's a picture. How is it wrong to dress modestly? It's called self-respect. This has little to do with sexual relations. There is nothing wrong with sex. Women shouldn't be called sluts and whores just because they have a lot of sex; it's their choice. And yes, people can and will judge, but that's not an attitude I partake in. The problem is when women (or men) show their bare bodies for everyone to see because that doesn't give people the choice to look at it or not. I wouldn't want my fiance looking at a nude woman (but that's just my opinion; apparently some people are fine with this). It's not liberating when she's covering her face, and also because she's letting herself be viewed as a sexual object instead of a human being.

I am tired of the images in the media and pornography being considered ok. What can we do to make the media less degrading without taking away people's freedoms? by moosicianin Feminism

But if porn and the media had not created these ideas of what men and women should look like to be attractive, would there be less lonely people who are merely alone due to these fascist beauty standards?

I get that porn is to help stimulate people, but its negative effects are what I am protesting. I do recognize that there are women like this, but I am not one of them. I do not fight for equality while demanding chivalry. People should just be nice to each other, both men and women. In fact, I spend more money on gifts for my boyfriend than he does on me (for gifts) and we split things like dinner most of the time, but honestly we don't care. We want each other to have everything. The media encourages this type of behavior for both men and women, and I can agree with you on that.

Yes, but as you said, the fact that it is marketable is sexual repression. The demand for it is my main concern.

You're right. I would be jealous, but that is not the point. I am perfectly aware that women choose to do this, and I think that their choices are degrading to themselves. I don't want to take away anyone's freedoms; my main concern is the demand for porn.

I am confused by your contradictions. I am cool with sexual freedom, just not in a degrading/dehumanizing way.
