Dan Morrill clarifies the current buzz about Google's support of CDMA devices like the Verizon Galaxy Nexus by benmarvinin Android

[–]monsda 5 points6 points ago

I wouldn't say they were sensationalist. People buy nexus to get Google support. When the page says cdma is no longer supported it isn't surprising that people get upset.

This clarification should have been included with the page change.

The RIGHTEOUS COD Community by acejiggy19in mw3

[–]monsda 0 points1 point ago

There are some guns that are statistically superior to others. For example, the Type-95 has an incredibly low time-to-kill. It's almost instantaneous up close. I like to call it (and other burst fires) the death laser - point, shoot, kill.

However, gun choice often comes down to preference.

If you're getting some sort of righteous COD community vibe, maybe you should take some time off from the community and just play the game. I only know what the gun stats are because I take a little bit of time to google them - no point in playing a game if you don't know what the rules are, right? That said, I try pretty much every gun, and play with the ones I like. I started playing cod with CoD4, and have always liked the single shot ARs. I love the MK14 in this game, but still use the M4, ACR, T95, and a few SMGs.

As for secondaries - that depends on my perks, which I usually pick based off of my primary weapon. If I pick steady aim, I'm going to use the akimbo FMGs.

I've never seen anybody dictating what guns to use.

Graphics card?

I'm guessing a mobo with onboard graphics would work for your purposes, but I'm not an expert by any means, and when I built last fall I was only looking at gaming specs.

Can someone tell me step-for-step how to use Google Wallet at a store? by N0V0w3lsin GalaxyNexus

[–]monsda 1 point2 points ago

I think if it's password/pattern protected you have to unlock.

I've only used it twice, and have just unlocked (I don't have a password/pattern) the phone, since I'm pretty sure you have to enter the PIN within something like 60 seconds.

You can log in to gmail on a computer, scroll to the bottom, and click "detail." If they log in on wifi, the IP address will show up.

I'm curious - how was it stolen?

I thought I was leveling slowly, about 1 level every two hours. One of my coworkers said he was getting about 1 level per hour.

[–]monsda 0 points1 point ago

I was really close to finishing the main story awhile ago, so I made myself go to other stuff. I'm currently only level 27 or 28, and about 45 hours in.

I haven't spent much time on crafting. I'm a mage, mostly using destruction magic, and I generally use potions for healing. I think melee characters level faster, because they're leveling their weapon skill and their armor skill.

I've also been all around Skyrim - took the carriage to each city, to make fast travelling easier.

So... are Windows Phones actually worth getting? by jibokoin gadgets

[–]monsda 0 points1 point ago

Which android did you get? Androids are most comparable to prebuilt computers that run windows. If you buy a cheap one with poor specs, you get a poor experience. Having gone from a droid eris, to a droid x, to a galaxy nexus, there is a massive difference between all three. The eris was just weak hardware wise. The droid x was pretty good in the hardware realm, but the locked bootloader pissed me off.

I don't see myself recommending anything other than the Nexus line in the future, and I won't be buying anything with a locked bootloader. I don't mind rooting and installing custom roms, so for my next phone, I'll buy whatever has the best hardware and an unlocked bootloader. For the layman, I'll be recommending whatever the newest Nexus is.

Galaxy Nexus warning: don't put any stress on the top right corner of the phone by adremeauxin GalaxyNexus

[–]monsda 0 points1 point ago

I'm on Verizon, so I'm only familiar with their warranty policies. I'm pretty sure that they'll replace defective merchandise within the first year. Obviously, don't tell them you dropped it...just say the touch screen isn't working, and show it to them with it "switched off."

Like every one else is saying, get a case and/or be more careful. I know I wouldn't be complaining if I dropped my laptop 2 feet and it broke.

I for one have no use case for a smart phone that the iPhone cannot do without a jailbreak present

Screen size. Not a big issue for some people, but being used to my old Droid X, and now my Galaxy Nexus, 3.5" is just way too small.

Games? Google 'slide me market.' Check out snesoid, nesoid, and the other oid emulators.

Things like pokemon and final fantasy work well with the touch screen....games like mario, not so much.

Which PC games (ports or not) are better played with a controller? by tehloganin pcgaming

[–]monsda 0 points1 point ago*

I've been playing Skyrim with a controller. But now, I have so many spells, and I want to be able to quickly switch between my light armor/dual wield set and my spells/magicka regen gear, so I'm going to start using one of the inventory mods for a more PC friendly interface, and start using KB/M.

I get higher quality streams through Pandora and I heart radio on my phone than what I can pick up over the air, sine I don't have an HD radio. Buffering is rarely an issue after start up. LTE is sweet.

I live in philly, and XPN (member-supported) has a lot of great new music. I used to live in Maryland, and don't think there was anything like it there.
