The main reason to choose the Female Wizard in Diablo III. by TheDepartedin gaming

[–]modix 0 points1 point ago

More like build and release from Assassin, and auras, defensive spells and healing from Pally.

I've read a few studies saying the lose about 10% of the AA at room temperature on the shelf for a year. Frozen and vacuum packed... just don't worry about it, you're fine. Worst case scenario, it's not quite as delicate as it could've been.

Diablo III: Nightmare Azmodan Fast Exp Method - YouTube by jomgabbar1in diablo3

It's been their design from the start. MF helps rate, but not production. Bosses have more guaranteed drops, but nothing drops only from them. And as hard as the inferno bosses are... doubting people are going to run them.

I think the stats will be there later. If not, the only method of 2h I could see is a hard hitting reach that doesn't rely on spirit to dish damage.

Monk Discussion by bigbossodinin Diablo

[–]modix 0 points1 point ago

I'm thinking 2h will be better as the items get better and the game gets harder. Right now it's easy to spam small attacks and survive. Once you have to make quick precise attacks, hitting hard and getting out this will make more sense. A crazy unique Diabo might make that possible.

Try using a direct primary and using the lashing tail following the cyclone. Wave of light works really well with a huge 2-h weapon. The damage is massive, and it stuns all in its path. Uses up too much spirit IMO, though.

[–]modix 0 points1 point ago

Cyclone works really well with the serenity + crippling wave, or lashing tail. Suck em in, and knock them out, or beat on them while safe.

Monk Discussion by bigbossodinin Diablo

[–]modix 0 points1 point ago

The monk staves are more dps than normal 1h of the same iLVL. There damage range is more compact as well. So you do big, consistent damage. This is at the cost of speed or (if you choose shield) armor. You hit really hard, but don't regen the spirit. Found a yellow diabo and all the skills with big weapon damage boosts shot up in damage.

Monk Discussion by bigbossodinin Diablo

[–]modix 0 points1 point ago

True, but the modifiers on monk weapons are class specific. That passive spirit gain modifier, or spirit->hp modifier can really make a bigger difference than a small gain in weapon dps.

Monk Discussion by bigbossodinin Diablo

[–]modix 0 points1 point ago

I use the spirit to hp convert passive. Suck them in with Cyclone, kick em out with lash tail. This uses up a ton of spirit and heals you well (and the healing ability double counts!). Use the Reach primary to build up spirit from a distance. I keep the dashing strike up to catch up to random runners. I'm sure I'll evolve a better plan eventually, but this is working well so far.

Diablo 3 "Lack of customization and skill choices" by cloversjoein gaming

[–]modix 1 point2 points ago

Wandering around mazes isn't going to maximize finding and killing champions and uniques. Rapidly clearing and restarting is going to do that.

That's pure choice. I sure as hell am not going to farm that way, and you don't have to. You can do exactly what you want (play through the game multiple times) as a very viable choice for finding items. Sure some places will lag a bit in drops/minute, but I would never choose that unless I have to (which D2 really did force).

In Inferno ALL champions are the same level. You'll fight them naturally while playing through the game. Delving into random dungeons also give guaranteed drops as well. The game has a lot of variety of possible item hunting routes, and I fully plan on exercising them. No one is forcing you to do "runs", and it is a practical way of getting items, and if you enjoy playing through the whole game, do so!

Diablo 3 "Lack of customization and skill choices" by cloversjoein gaming

[–]modix 0 points1 point ago

D3 simply doesn't have that. Every class, during beta anyway, had a clearly superior rune and skill combo that the vast majority of players would use.

Clearly superior in what? A fully geared sorc running in Inferno, or clearly superior at levels 1-25? Most likely those non-damaging skills and passives are going to be key later on, until the gear is strong enough to make the runs easier. I'm guessing there will be a wide variety ranging from glass cannon to melee, and if certain skills are just non-viable, it'll get fixed quickly. Areas are going to cause variation as well. Some levels are going to need knockback, some levels a certain type of damage will king. I'm severely doubting skills are going to be a set it and forget it.

I don't think anything can be predicted at this point, even from a full game run. No one to my knowledge has fully decked out, changed their stat loads through high ranking gems and ran through inferno. It's going to be complicated, and a few sheep following each other's builds at the beginning is far different than a well flushed out gaming community with years worth of gaming time put into skill examination.

This is the only real criticism I have for the D3 system from beta. I feel like they could have still kept a "focus" that would even out at 60. Perhaps enough points to open everything, but perhaps a branching method to allow a character to invest and feel the results of investment. This would give the feeling of sacrifice and choice, while not hampering the end game.

The runes as they were at the start were a good choice (essentially each difficulty allowed for 1-2 increases in the rune's power). Perhaps they didn't need to be items, but the multi level versions of them would have been a great feeling of progression (and perhaps could have provided a feeling of choice if you had investing of points/time in developing them).

It really doesn't sound like you've read up on the D3 system much. I thought your way until I did further research into the game's item and game randomization. The game rewards playing the entire game (much like you do already with multiple characters). There's no drop increases in Boss drops. You're better off playing through the game in full than warping back and resetting a boss. Play the game, work your way through. That, and Inferno is basically the testing ground for builds and items. You just don't need to restart a new character. Instead change your current character around and run it through the gauntlet of inferno. Beats getting power leveled artificially just to move a couple points around. Progress is made through playing it normally, and there's a lot of game to play.

All of the customization that existed in immutable skills now involves stat manipulation and armor customization (expensive and time consuming though) in combination to figuring out the optimal skill set and runes for you character. Inferno is always a higher level than you, the whole playthrough. You're having to customize your character for survival, and praying for decent drops while it happens. This sounds excellent to me. Immutable stats and choices that force character resets are just not a great thing. Especially if they patch things around and destroy a character's usability. This sort of flexibility is passed onto the designers as well.

Searching for a 17 fret neck. by Peregrineeaglein banjo

[–]modix 0 points1 point ago

I'm renecking an old Vega Style N. I really have no use for the old neck, I'm not sure when it'll be done (and sent back to me). It's ancient (probably seeing it's 100th birthday this decade), and not in superb condition (but solid and has old friction pegs), but I have no need for it. If you still need it in a month or two, let me know and I'll send it your way.

Old necks aren't reinforced though, and have bowing issues. I would probably think you'd be best off grabbing a new one.
