Why don't more people think this way? by LebaneseLurkerin funny

[–]mijj 0 points1 point ago

"It can be debated whether homosexuality is a sin."

ah .. that terribly misused verb "to be".

Homosexuality is itself not a sin. That can also be said of eating chocolate on Thursdays, or dropping bombs on villages.

(By "sin" i assume you mean "immoral". )

Nothing, in and of itself, is a "sin". "Sin" is in the eye of the beholder.

What you're suggesting is that there's a debate to decide whether we should all regard homosexuality as immoral. (but, is there? .. i assumed no one except a particular minority hold homosexuality to be immoral)

We all evolve our own morality. We all make decisions according to our own morality. If you assume that someone else should decide rules about what is and isn't "sin" (religious leaders) then that's essentially immoral.

"turtles all the way down" applies to science, too.

It's surprising that so many people think science reveals "truth" rather than provides models with a certain accuracy.

ie. "The map is not the territory" - someone whose name begins with "k" and ends with "ski" or "sky".

So, to point out grammatical mistakes one must now provide sources.

It's not a grammatical mistake if it's just your opinion. Unless your grammatical authority for the supposed error is respected by the other person, there is no grammatical error.

In other words. Grow up. 8-)

your criticism is wrong.

If you're attempting to convey authority, you should post a reference to your source. Otherwise you come off as someone who stands on street corners directing traffic in his underwear.

personally, i think all internet access should be blocked for all people (except for those in the security services).

Should anyone want to access a location on the network, they should make a written request to the authorities stating the location, the nature of information there and a full description of why the location will be visited.

If the request is not denied outright, an appointment will be made with a Truth Acquisition Specialist. He will determine your actual reasons for visiting the requested location. If he is satisfied your actual reasons comply with your specified reasons, then an appointment will be made where you will be allowed supervised access to the location. If the Truth Acquisition Specialist isn't satisfied that your request correlates with your actual reasons, you will be tagged "potential information terrorist" and become the responsibility of Homeland Security(Categorisation Division) for further processing.

Who owns your files on Google Drive? Dropbox and Microsoft's SkyDrive allow you to retain your copyright and IP rights to the work you upload to the service, but Google Drive takes everything you own. by PrettyBoyFloydin technology

[–]mijj 1 point2 points ago

i came across this solution recently: CloudFogger

(beware: this is my understanding as an ill-educated pleb)

it does per file encryption. A virtual volume is created, but actual encrypted files are saved (on an individual basis) in a designated folder (eg. a folder within the dropbox folder). Opening a file from the virtual volume decrypts the file for the application.

Ie. the act of passing a file into the virtual volume encrypts the file, accessing a file from the virtual volume decrypts the file.

there's an Android version of CloudFucker i mean CloudFogger, but at the moment it only allows viewing. (they say encryption for Android is planned, but no expected date for it.)

seems ok so far. I have no technical expertise, so i don't know how good it is security wise (eg. what happens to temp stuff created behind the scenes when you open/modify/save an encrypted file with an app?).
