Shooting a flywheel from a car in the desert at long range with my mosin nagant, after a couple of good loud "Plink!" noises, we went up to check on the target and see what kind of hits we were getting. The bullets were leaving clean holes through the flywheel, I got cocky and took a couple steps back and shot it again. The bullet probably went through, but the jacket came back and hit me directly in the arm, my friend got a small splinter in his cheek that he pulled out with his fingernail. Luckily I only lost a little blood and he was barely hurt at all. A trip to the hospital to make sure there wasn't any more shrapnel in us and we were all set. I was pretty shaken up after that, and inch or two either way and the pieces would have been in one of our throats. To this day I can't believe how lucky I am to just have a scar. Lesson learned.
